Top Chef's inaugural winner, Harold Dieterle, opened this restaurant a few years ago, focusing on American Nouveau -- is Perilla, which is the formal name for the tangy, mint-related herb the Japanese call shiso. All of the dishes are very complex, and the menu changes from time to time -- most of the flavors tend to reflect strong Asian tendencies.... More

One of the best restaurants with fine food exquisitely prepared. Always a course or two that is not seen at other places. Service excelelnt. Have been here many times. Never disappointed!

A small Greenwich Village neighborhood restaurant opened by Top Chef season one winner, Harold Dieterle in 2007. The food plays off Asian flavors and is exquisitely prepared. It has an excellent wine list and has a tasteful decor. I've eaten there twice and was never disappointed. I look forward to dining at his other two New York restaurants, "Kim Shop"... More

Our experience at Perilla easily made it into our Top 3 best meals EVER. Elegant yet unpretentious, Perilla is everything a restaurant should be. It achieved perfection, from the service to the decor, and espcially the food and wine. We loved every bite we had and cleared every single plate we received. We had and highly recommend the liberty salad,... More

In this cozy and simple West Village space, we were delighted to see that the noise level was not so amplified as to prevent good conversation. . .the tables were reasonably spaced. They also seated me immediately while I waited for my friends to arrive; a far more civilized option than being forced to hover in the entry until the... More

Charming setting conducive to conversation, gracious and efficient service, interesting menu, comprehensive wine and beverage menu, and really good food. The salad was perfectly dressed, which is often not the case, and the gnocchi light and very tasty. The three entrees, fish, chicken, and steak, that we selected were all delicious and generously portioned. The dessert sorbet hit the spot,... More

We came with a large eclectic crowd and everyone loved their selection of drinks and food. The salads and appetizers were a bit expensive, but worth it. A surprise quaint appetizer from the chef was a lovely touch. Would definitely go back!

I very much like the staff and ambiance at Perilla. Small, intimate, relaxing. The menu is rather limited. Four of us shared the signature duck meatballs with mint, tasty but small for $15. The honey gem salad my husband and I shared was SO SALTY that it made my ankles and feet swell up. I can honestly make a much... More

Last night, we had the finest meal out we've had in a very long time. It all comes together here - fine food, gracious staff and a comfortable setting. We got the restaurant week menu plus a couple of small dishes, all of which enjoyed thoroughly. The roaster mushrooms were stellar. I have to give a special shout out to... More

Well the atmosphere is nice , cosy and romantic the service is awesome. Had the restaurant week menu the mule was great but the amber jack fish was dry and the rice was overcooked to the extent that it was crunchy but at least it tasted better than the fish which was lacking flavor .. The chocolate soufflé was great... More
