Sfoglia is a lovely little trattoria residing on an unassuming stretch of the Upper East Side, across the street from the 92nd Street Y. Farmhouse tables topped with the season's produce are the appropriate setting for Sfoglia's country Italian fare. The private dining room tucked away upstairs can seat an intimate party of twelve.

Super Meal before an event at the 92nd Y

We ate here before attending an event at the 92nd Y across the street and it was superb. The bolognese sauce was to die for and the service was impeccable. It is a bit pricey but great service and energetic vibe!

The experience starts when you are received at the entrance, even without reservation. A homy atmosphere immediately flows and welcomes you. Not two tables are the same. They come straight from homes. What is special about the food, is that it is different from what every Italian restaurant serves in new York. Variety of pasta, great antipasti and delicious deserts... More

Sunday night dinner for 2 with a bottle of wine cost $200. The staff could not wait to drum us out and in the process spilt my wine. Food was ho hum. Antipasti was tasty but their signature chicken was served without vegetables and too much oil. The pastry on the pear tart was burnt and unpleasant. There are better... More

I had a dinner with my wife. We were warmly welcomed by the owner or manager. The inside of the restaurant was a bit dark, which was a good atmosphere for us. We ordered assortment of appetizer, grilled salmon, and squid ink risotto. The The appetizer was almost vegetables, and this was not tasty for us. The king salmon itself... More

One of the best spots on the Upper East Side. It's always a great dinner at Sfoglia. Service can be a bit pretentious but not always. The bread is to die for and the food is always fresh and hearty.

We were in on a Sunday night and had a reservation - not sure we would have gotten in otherwise, it was pretty busy. We had a great server who gave good advice to our small-town crew about how to best order off the menu, and what to drink. The food was terrific. Even the busboy was awesome:)

Enjoyed our 1st meal as a married couple here and the laid back ambiance was perfect. We were seated in the back room which felt like more space. We enjoyed the formaggi as an appetizer which was wonderful! My other half had a scrumptious pork chop which was the largest that I've ever seen! I enjoyed the pappardelle alla Bolognese... More

Well....this is why conversations with locals in bars has has its benefits. After hearing rave comments about Spoglia from a Boston native now who lives on the Upper East Side, we decided to work a lunch there into our schedule. And we're we glad we did! This is a "blink and you miss it" spot on the NW corner of... More

Sfoglia offers a good selection of entrees that are well prepared and presented. Very attentive and pleasant service in a warm atmosphere. As a footnote their bread is some of the best I have had.

We chose this restaurant as our wedding lunch recently. The service, food quality and professionalism exceeded our expectations. Ours was a destination wedding so we only got to actually see the restaurant two days before the big day. Adriana had been my main contact and it was great to finally meet her. On the actual day, Adriana wasn't able to... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
