Best casual dining in NYC?

We were lucky enough to get a table here last Friday. My friend has been here quite often and says it's his favourite restaurant in the world! I can see why. It's fairly casual dinning, but the food is excellent; they clearly hunt out the best local produce. The pork chop is amazing, especially... read more

This is a small cozy restaurant (it's the "little" owl after all) and it has character in spades. But I did not find the food as great as the reviews made it out to be. I had the signature meatball sliders - in itself, a rather strange dish to have as a specialty, and it didn't taste outstandingly different from... More

Such a cute little find. Cocktails we're amazing & food was a spin on traditional American food. We went for lunch on our last day in New York & it was fantastic. Couldn't recommend enough.

This is a very small venue. We came in for a late dinner (with a reservation) after a broadway show. Our meal was delicious! The place was packed and it was 10pm at night. We did have a slight issue where our server forgot to order our dessert, we didm;t notice unit we had waited 20 minutes or so. They... More

Stopped here for a Sunday brunch. It's a tiny place, but was really nice and cozy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Most importantly, the food was amazing! I had the french toast special with a side of bacon. My husband had the chilaquiles. Both meals were excellent. I can't wait to go back on my next trip to... More

We stopped in just before 11 on a Saturday morning for brunch. We didn't have a reservation, but were able to snag a table. The food and service were very good and very fresh. This is a beautiful neighborhood gem that deserves its high ratings!

My husband and I visited Little Owl on the night before our wedding. We were given such a warm welcome by a friendly lady who greeted us with a glass of Prossecco! The restaurant is small and cosy with a lovely ambiance. One of the waiters was happy to offer his opinion on the selection of dishes on offer. He... More

Truly laid back place with great food and probably a lot of local regulars. Had the signature slider as a starter and then shared delicious burgers and steak tacos. Extra credit to the staff for actually cutting the burgers in two and giving us one half with fries on a plate each.

Visited for lunch after reading the reviews. It was pleasant enough but nothing special. My wife had the tacos which were dripping in water. I had the burger which was tasty. The cheesecake dessert was the highlight.

Enjoyed this little gem so much. And the appetizer of the day along with 2 fish dishes outstanding with my wife topped off by an outstanding molten lava cake that was absolutely delicious. If I lived in New York I would frequent this restaurant the ambiance was very quaint service was outstanding and overall experience was phenomenal

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
