Alex and his staff understand hospitality. If anyone feels like a nobody than that would be your issue. Alex is a terrific host to all. The food and service are outstanding. Been here several times over the years and this place is spot on. If anyone has a negative to review you obviously don't understand excellent Italian food. Alex thank... More

Wandered into a crowded but still audible atmosphere here late on a Saturday. Most everything on the menu looked great but we ended up ordering our appetizers and main courses from the specials. The seafood risotto, while pricey was truly spectacular...perfectly seasoned and a portion that would leave no one hungry. My girlfriend had the ravioli del giorno which was... More

All I can say is when I asked my 3 kids (10,12,15) if there are any cons or areas for improvement- the answer was NO! It's perfect. This restaurant got 10 across the board- food, service, location, ambiance...all wonderful Will return for sure on future visits to NYC.

Cozy modern italian restaurant. Suitable for everybody. We were a party of 10 (5 children 7-17 ). Good food. Good service. Centrally located close to Central Park and Columbus Circle.

Our family found this gem and it was well worth it! The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was fantastic. We all had a variety and every plate was delicious. Great time, good atmosphere, and the best restaurant staff we've encountered thus far! Well done!

We were a party of 8 and reserved a table well in advance of our first trip to the city. We're so glad we did as Basso was the dining highlight of our stay. Great service and good portions of superb food of which the filet mignons were especially memorable. Highly recommended.

I was disappointed. This restaurant had really good ratings but I felt like a nobody. We arrived early for our reservation and had a drink at the bar. We asked if they could accommodate us early if possible and were told they would do what they could. While we sat at the bar people came in without reservations and were... More

Wow. The lamb ragu and the creamy fettuccine were big hits. The service was perfect. Really enjoyed coming back to one of our favorite reliably good restaurants in New York.

This was our second time visiting Basso56 for lunch. The service is excellent, the menu has great variety and the specials are interesting. We had the price fix lunch which included an appetizer, entree and soft drink. Food was well prepared and they offer a variety of Italian wines.

Basso 56 is conveniently located a few blocks away from Lincoln Center. We were a party of six with a reservation, and though we arrived a bit late, our table was waiting for us. Not always the case in many restaurants on a busy Saturday night. The restaurant was full. We shared appetizers, salads and burata mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto.... More
