We arrived at 10pm for a late dinner with our family. They were very accommodating and gave is a table directly. While the menu is great, we can sometimes be a bit difficult with what we like and don't. Despite the late hour they were extremely nice and customized 3 of our dishes with items that were not even on... More

We went here for dinner tonight based on other excellent reviews. It does not disappoint. It is not a large restaurant but long one. From the moment we sat down, our waiter, Aleksander was very attentive. Bread & olives to start with. Followed by a large plate of mussels to share in a delicate tomato sauce and mopped up with... Wish we had visited Basso56 earlier in our trip. The classic Italian was fantastic. I mentioned I was in the mood for veal picatta (was not on the menu) and our waiter had the chef prepare it for me. Was amazing. They start with a crusted bread topped with a tomato garlic mix, loved. They brought olives for the table... More

We have been here twice now and will make it a tradition when we come to NYC. The restaurant is small, but it definitely adds to the experience. Their homemade pasta is delicious, as is there meat sauce. They also bring you a plate of olives and bread, which is a nice treat. Service is excellent and the ambience is... More

Had a very good meal here while in New York. The tables are a bit close together and unfortunately had a horrible bore next to us who was obnoxious. I pitied his poor date for the night. Anyway the food and service was excellent and the experience even with the bore next door was actually fun. It is a lively... More

Four of us went for dinner on a Saturday following an afternoon at MOMA. Reservation make via internet was not computerized at the restaurant, but the hostess had to look through handwritten reservations before finally finding it. The best I can say was that it was nicely decorated. When we asked for vegetable and starch options we were told that... More

Alex and his staff understand hospitality. If anyone feels like a nobody than that would be your issue. Alex is a terrific host to all. The food and service are outstanding. Been here several times over the years and this place is spot on. If anyone has a negative to review you obviously don't understand excellent Italian food. Alex thank... More

Wandered into a crowded but still audible atmosphere here late on a Saturday. Most everything on the menu looked great but we ended up ordering our appetizers and main courses from the specials. The seafood risotto, while pricey was truly spectacular...perfectly seasoned and a portion that would leave no one hungry. My girlfriend had the ravioli del giorno which was... More

All I can say is when I asked my 3 kids (10,12,15) if there are any cons or areas for improvement- the answer was NO! It's perfect. This restaurant got 10 across the board- food, service, location, ambiance...all wonderful Will return for sure on future visits to NYC.

Cozy modern italian restaurant. Suitable for everybody. We were a party of 10 (5 children 7-17 ). Good food. Good service. Centrally located close to Central Park and Columbus Circle.
