Delicious steak, somewhat odd service

We stopped by for lunch on a weekday. Service was quick and courteous, but a bit rushed. Our bread plates, knives, butter, and uneaten bread and breadsticks in a nice stocked basket were removed from the table after we finished our starter salads without our being asked if were were done with them... read more

It all started with the oysters on the half shell--they were obviously shucked in the morning and by the time we got there at 8 pm they were dry and stuck to the shell--I hate not having sent them back. The salad was fine. The steak was definitely not prime as they advertise it to be, it was tough and... More

New York certainly isn't short of a few steakhouses. Deciding which to go for when you only have 4 nights isn't the easiest of tasks (unless your happy to have steak 4 nights in a row!). After a lot of Trip research, cross reference with a tad of Google referencing and a massive dollop of Eenie Meenie Minee Mo we... More

Benjamin is a beautiful restaurant. We were seated promptly for our 6:30 reservation. Our waiter was attentive and polite. As the evening went on it became more crowded but the service was still excellent. Most of us ordered the sirloin (my husband and I shared one sirloin and there was plenty for two). The steak has a flavorful crust which... More

After four years I was not disappointed. We had drinks at the bar for appx 30 minutes, service was great, bar staff were attentive and engages in great conversation. When I asked about certain beers they offered the opportunity to taste to see what I preferred. We were kept updated on our table and soon it was ready. When we... More

Steaks done to perfection, exquisite taste, delicate texture. Service was as it should be in a top shelf restaurant. Beautiful, romantic atmosphere. We often compare other steaks we order in other restaurants in our travels to the ones we've had here. Not many measure up. Worth it!

it's inside the hotel i normally use. i ignored it for several times, last trip to NYC i tryed it and i was upset to have lost too many opportunities to have used it before. meet was great (we selected the steak for 3 and cheesecake), list of wine very very very interesting. cost was a bit high, but it's... Nice but noisy atmosphere, good service, polite waiters. The restaurant feels a bit like Titanic with it's 1920-style and stairs. The waiters treated us with style, until the meal was served. We had to wait for the check and to be honest: at that price I expect the waiters to pour water and wine and give more attention. We had... More

We were in NYC for a long weekend and wanted to try a nice steakhouse. After reading several reviews, we decided on the Benjamin. We were greeted when we arrived and sat right away. We ordered the steak for 2, bacon (which we'd never tried, but really enjoyed) and the onion rings. Everything was excellent and cooked perfectly. They have... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
