Chef Michael Psilakis and partner Donatella Arpaia have moved their rustic Greek gem, Kefi, to a larger space at 505 Columbus Avenue. The new, 200-seat interior evokes the feeling of a palatial Greek hideaway broken up into several smaller dining rooms to keep Kefi’s intimate appeal. The menu of favorites straight from Psilakis’ childhood will remain the same with some new additions. Signature dishes like Baccala, crispy-fried cod with garlic potatoes and tomato, Grilled Octopus with bean salad, and Hilopita, baked pasta with rabbit ragout and béchamel are still on offer. Additions include Grilled Sardines with chopped “Greek Salad” and garlic sauce, Macaronia Spestofai, tubular pasta with Greek sausage, peppers, onions, tomato and feta and an entirely new section of Greek Sandwiches featuring house-made sausages and pork and lamb gyro.

We held a bridal shower for my daughter. The food was wonderful, 3 appetizers family style, we had the octopus salad, it was memorable. The Greek salad was great too of course. We also had the branzino, which everyone loved. We brought in our own cake. The service was excellent. We added on the drink package of mimosas and sangria,... More

Went to Kefi for lunch today. First time there. Had the Kefi salad with salmon added. It was outstanding. A good place for lunch where they let you sit and eat and relax. Really good cappuccino too.

At first, I thought I was going to be disappointed because they don't have grape leaves and they don't have fries to stuff into my souvlaki. But this was a winner! We all shared two appetizers, Yaya's Homemade Meatballs, served with pita and tzatziki, which were moist and delicious, and calamari, served with a side of tzatziki and roasted chickpeas,... More

We dined here during our recent trip to NYC and quite enjoyed it. The food is excellent and the portion sizes are perfect. I know other reviewers have mentioned the noise level, and it is on the noisier side. However, the earlier in the evening you dine (before 7pm), the less crowded/noisy it is. Downstairs is quieter than upstairs, so... More

Early 3 course dinner from 4-6 pm-$19.95 well worth it. Appetizer, entree, & dessert. Many good choices. All portions ample for sharing. Apps- 12 mussels in wine sauce with gigante beans, feta. Lots of flavor. Meat balls (2 large) , roasted garlic, olives, tomato. A special treat. Entre- grilled branzino, potato, olive, tomato. Grilled on both sides, two good large... More

Always wanted to try this restaurant because we really enjoy Mediterranean food. We had a reservation during restaurant week which may have contributed to the noise and crowding. While the food was delicious, the waiter couldn't keep track of everyone. He asked us, twice, what course we had completed. The two-top tables were very small. There wasn't enough room for... More

We went on Valentine's Day which probably was not optimum but we were in the area and wanted to go out to dinner. We made reservations over a week in advance and were pleased to get a reservation at 7:30. They were very crowded - not surprising. We were seated by 7:45 which was just fine as we expected a... Our second time back to Kefi was a let down. It is crowded and noisy - that's ok however my friend's order was incorrectly delivered had to be re ordered so the timing of our meals did not match. Our food was luke warm and over cooked - roast chicken and lemon potatoes. We were very disappointed as we had... More

Loved Kefi! Had the burger and lemon potatoes, both of which were cooked to perfection! A little loud in the restaurant, but a clean, simple vibe. Would definitely come back again!
