Chef Michael Psilakis and partner Donatella Arpaia have moved their rustic Greek gem, Kefi, to a larger space at 505 Columbus Avenue. The new, 200-seat interior evokes the feeling of a palatial Greek hideaway broken up into several smaller dining rooms to keep Kefi’s intimate appeal. The menu of favorites straight from Psilakis’ childhood will remain the same with some new additions. Signature dishes like Baccala, crispy-fried cod with garlic potatoes and tomato, Grilled Octopus with bean salad, and Hilopita, baked pasta with rabbit ragout and béchamel are still on offer. Additions include Grilled Sardines with chopped “Greek Salad” and garlic sauce, Macaronia Spestofai, tubular pasta with Greek sausage, peppers, onions, tomato and feta and an entirely new section of Greek Sandwiches featuring house-made sausages and pork and lamb gyro.

Great Experience

Recently enjoyed a wonderful brunch at Kefi, great food, generous portions and fun to dine there. All 5 of us enjoyed our selections. Just give yourself time as even though we arrived at noon, when the restaurant was still somewhat quiet, it took a while for our orders to arrive.

Went here with my wife. Service was on the money as was the food. Authentic. Great prices and atmosphere was Euro/New York! Must come and try the grilled fish and homemade dips!! Oh and the lemonato drink with ouzo!!

Lively Greek spot, extensive menu. Nice cocktail offerings. Chose the tasting menu: medley of traditional spreads with an excellent taramasalata, Kefi salad, delicious grilled Bronzino with potato, tomato and olives, ending with a rich chocolate mousse with sesame ice cream. Would have been 5 stars but service was off - entree was served while we were still enjoying cocktails and... More

A bunch of people from work came here to have dinner and we really enjoyed ourselves. It was great because they could accommodate our big group (they have two really nice spaces - one upstairs and one downstairs). The food was pretty good and the staff was pretty attentive; I think I would probably go back!

Great place, wonderful ambiance, fairly good service. Food was great as well as the wheat beer which was special. Ordered a kefi salad which is great. The sheep milk ricotta ravioli with feta was outstanding and so was the Bronzino impeccably grilled. Congrats.

Had dinner here early.......that is important due to an early bird (before 6) special. For $19.95, the 3 course meal was really good. Salad, meatball appetizer, entrees and dessert which we had were all very fine. The house red wine was good at only $7!

My wife and I traveled to NYC from Kansas City for our anniversary. We designed the trip around dining at some of the best restaurant that New York has to offer: Del Posto and Gramercy Tavern. We have a friend who gave us Kefi as a great spot, and we hit it for lunch. AWESOME! We are not accustomed to... More

My first visit in over 6 months was even better than the last! Exceptional sausage appetizers, wonderful branzino, and Greek brandy that was the perfect finish. A great neighborhood restaurant with solid, not overly fancy food. TIP: Get the Grand Fine Metaxa - smooth and delicious

We went here for dinner. We ordered the branzino, pork medallions and pasta with feta and sausage. The portions are ample, but nothing special in presentation and taste. The kefi salad was good and fresh. The waitstaff is efficient, but with no personality or smiles. Prices are reasonable for NYC, but you get what for. Good for a quick and... More

Kefi's, a neighborhood eatery, is the place to go when you're going Greek on the Upper West Side. They have a varied menu, featuring many fish dishes. My favorite is their "Simply Grilled" part of the menu, where you can get a host of fresh fish, including Bronzino and Dorado, grilled in simple seasonings. If there's on disappoinment, it's their...
