We visit Cafe Cluny every time we get a chance, especially when we stay nearby. We have only been there for breakfast or brunch, so can't comment about any menu items other than the normal breakfast fare. I always order the scrambled eggs and toast with potatoes (extra), but what I really like and... read more

Our hotel concierge recommended this cosy and friendly restaurant in the West village. The complimentary newspapers, the nice interior as well as tasty food for breakfast made us return the other day again.

We had dinner reservations for 5:30 PM. We were seated promptly upon arrival and had a great table near the window...very NYC feel. Since we were so early the place was fairly empty but once it started to fill up with dinner patrons you could tell it is a bit cramped at full capacity. Overall food is ok - not... More

My partner and I have been coming to Cafe Cluny for years and make it a point of inviting our out-of-town guests here. And for all those years it has remained consistent. The staff is warm and inviting in just the right way. The menu is small enough not to overwhelm, large enough to please every palate and dietary consideration.... More

Such a good place, if I lived in NYC I'd be eating there every weekend, not one bit pretentious but so much better than the usual flashy all about the image than the food places you can end up in.

Cluny is the quintessential West Village experience, where locals (and local celebrities) brunch and dine. The food never disappoints and the service is always superb. Yes, the wait for brunch might get long since they don't take reservations, so come early and the Breakfast Sandwich will make it worth while!

This restaurant was a great find! Food was lovely (had the venison) and setting beautiful within the Greenwich Village district. Food is slightly pricy, but well worth it in my opinion as the quality and service was great

Cafe Cluny is a nice neighborhood place for a nice meal. Our food was average good not great. After looking at Cafe Cluny's lousy wine list online we called and learned that wine corkage was $25- so we brought a nice bottle of red wine. Clearly our waiter did not appreciate that and went out of his way to make... More

Walking around the neighbourhood we decided to have dinner to this lovely restaurant (at least from the outside). Once inside we were seated to a not really romantic table, small and in a corner. A nice empty table was available next to the window. I asked to the hostess if it was possible to be seated there. Apparently the table... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
