Upon arriving at the Best Western President's hotel at 10pm where I was spending the night after an international trip, I wasn't hopeful of finding a healthy way to fill my tummy. LO and behold ,adjacent to the hotel was this gem of a restaurant. I was the only customer for most of the time, but they treated me warmly... More

We've been twice to Saigon 48 and have eaten very well both times. Most recently we shared the steamed fish and garlic broccoli. Steamed fish can be very bland, but this was delicious, subtly seasoned, and it came with all sorts of just-crunchy vegetables. The broccoli was indeed laced with powerful amounts of garlic, and we enjoyed it. Portions are... More

It's by no means THE high Vietnamese quisine showing decades of French garstronomic influence. It's more like chinese there, minus glutamate. Very good fresh steamed fish. The serrvice is mild, unobtrusive and unlike many – I'd say most – NYC restaurants you don't feel hassled with empty smiles, passive-aggressive how's-everythings, and a constant Damocle's sword of 20% gratuity one is... I visited Saigon 48 in September of 2011 and it did not disappoint. Fast forward 3 years and it did not disappoint again! The food is fresh, the wait staff friendly and attentive and the prices very reasonable. It is a must do if you are around 48th street.

This was my annual birthday trip to NYC. This year was only take away - but the chicken curry was very much to my liking - quite spicy, but good spicy. There are so many restaurants in NYC to try, I was happy to return here based on my trip last year. It is an inexpensive meal and dining in... More

I have eaten here several times. I feel bad that I haven't gone anywhere else, when there are so many choices in NYC, but the food is really, really good here, and I look forward to it. I've had several different dishes and haven't been disappointed. I've had the fresh Summer rolls,, the green delight, and several build your own... More

portions were huge which normally wouldn't be a bad thing but food was very disappointing - and simply too much waste--best part of meal were the spring rolls and Vietnamese iced coffee -- ambiance was romantic and dimly lit

We had a pre theatre meal here. I started with the egg rolls. They were too greasy and fishy for my taste. Then my entree was chicken with mixed vegetable in a brown sauce. The delicious white meat chicken was sliced thin and the texture was tender. The brown sauce was very good as were the vegetables. I didn't like... More

We ate here our last night in NYC. Waiters super friendly and helpful. Plenty of really good food at reasonable prices. Great atmosphere. It is on W. 48th between 7th and 8th. If you are in the Theater district or on your way to Times Square, it is a great place to eat. It was only a block from our... More
