Gone Saigon 48

Was a nice alternative to usual fare in the neighborhood. Sadly, the restaurant is closed...permanently.. Went by there, pre theater, on June 19. A loss to the area.

We bumped into this place and decided to try it for dinner. It's a nice big place, with food on average good -- but I've tried better places in the past -- at an affordable price. Some of the soups could be better, but all in all it was ok.

We happened to stumble upon this restaurant for a pre-theater dinner, ordering the same items on our second visit the next night. The lightly fried calamari salad was delicious and made spicy per our request. Next came the pho noodle soup. We ordered a large bowl to share not knowing the soup could have easily fed 4. Perfect for a... More

Portions are huge and delicious. Service is quick and attentive. Been going here for a while now and haven't been disappointed. Mike the manager/owner there is so hospitable and polite which makes the experience even better. Don't find to many places in the city like that. Mixture of tourists and locals, have seen celebrities chowing down here sometimes.

During our 10-day stay in New York, we had lunch here twice and dinner three times. We had the Pho Noodle Soup, Fried Shrimp Wontons, Pad Thai, Lemongrass Beef with Vegetables, Mixed Vegetables with Tofu, Fish Fillet and Teriyaki Cube Steak. The Pad Thai was tasty. The Lemongrass Beef was a little salty. The Fish Fillet was very fresh and... More

Saw this as we were staying at the hotel, so we thought we'd give it ago. The meals are huge and quite tasty. We a noodle dish and a beef dish for mains, and also got some fried ice cream balls. Note about the ice cream balls: they are huge and you could easily share one with someone else. Great... More

We were able to get dinner and make our play easily from Saigon 48. The vegetarian pho was good, but did have a beef base. The spring rolls were very good. Tip: There is a second room that is in the hotel adjoining and can sometimes get you in quicker. Ask the hostess if the restaurant is crowded - It... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
