Kellari Taverna is located in the heart of New York City, three blocks from Grand Central Station, Times Square and the Theater District. The dining room decor evokes a subterranean wine cellar designed with contemporary elegance. Kellari features the traditional Greek taverna specialties, such as grilled whole fish, prime chops and meats, and an eclectic selection of contemporary Hellenic savory appetizers ("mezedes") created by our Corporate Executive Chef, Gregory Zapantis. Our menu also features a variety of Greek cheeses, baked or flamed 'Saganaki' style, as well as a selection of Raw and Marinated seafood. The Kellari dessert menu includes innovative specialties such mastiha pudding and warm sokolata with halva ice cream as as well as traditional favorites such as Baklava and Galaktoboureko. Kellari Taverna offers an extensive international wine list featuring the largest selection of Greek wines available in any U.S. restaurant. About 24 wines are available by-the-glass.

Excellent Greek Food and atmosphere

Six of us dined at Kellari Tavern and we all enjoyed our dishes, sharing tastes and enjoying them all. My lamb chops were perfect, the sauce delicate and served with lemon potatoes. Some of us also had their Greek salad and it was excellent. Dinner for each couple came to a little over $100. We... read more

which does not deliver on its food. Both my friend and I ordered the chicken, which was utterly tasteless, no flavor at all and dry. My husband ordered the lamb which I tried - I found it to be a little better than the chicken but well done. How can a chef make such a mistake ? We sent the... More

Although the service was adequate, my fish was lukewarm and not very tasty. My partner did not care for his dish either. The best part of the meal was the grilled octopus appetizer.

This was not the first time I've dined at Kellari and it will definitely not be the last. The most recent visit was before a Broadway Show with my "very significant other". We knew what we liked on the menu and Kellari never disappoints. We started with a very dirty martini, straight up with olives and it was perfect for... More

Nice ambience for two, for business, friends, family - not kid oriented per se, but would take them here if I had a chance. I liked the display of fish/seafood next to the kitchen. Reminded me of the Aegean The food - good! Tasty, fresh. Had the seafood orzo. Service - excellent. Attentive and efficient. Price - not cheap about... More

The food in this restaurant was really good. My wife and son both had the lamb rack and I went for the chicken. They were well-prepare, tasty and the portions large. I'm not sure what the issue with the greeter was, but he seemed totally unwelcoming. We didn't have a reservation but the palce was half empty anyway around 5... More

One of my favourite restaurants in Manhattan, I try to get to it anytime I'm in NYC. Primarily a seafood restaurant, it has excellent plevrakia ( lamb side ribs served as an appetizer) and paidakia (lamb chops as a main) for those who want a meat option. It has an extensive list of wines from Greece as well as other... More

Staying at the Iroquios and after spending much time and energy visiting sites around the city, we decided to eat at Kellari Taverna because it was located close to our hotel. We ate earlier than most New Yorkers because we had tickets to a show. My wife and I were seated promptly at a table by the entrance, not the... More

The Greek s know how to take simple food and do some magic to it to produce some of the tastiest healthy food. You will find this at Kellari Taverna. The seafood and fish on offer here is probably the best in manhatton. Some of it is not local but imported from the Mediterranean. That is fine as they explain... More

I went to Kellari quite early after arriving in New York, too early for most New York diners, so it wasn't very full. This is not one of New York's 'hopping' restaurants, but it serves very fresh food, well cooked although quite expensive. We had very good service, and I enjoyed everything from the Greek salad to the grilled snapper.... More
