We were phoned to confirm our reservation an hour or so before hand and were welcomed warmly upon arrival. We were quickly shown to a table which I was glad to see what was not crowded in by other tables. Service was fast and efficient, a selection of bread and dips were served whilst we were making our selection. A... More

I've been here a lot over the years. It's a great pre or post Theater place. Away from the chaos of Time Sq but without the need to hail a taxi. Generally really good for a Greek seafood orientated taverna. But the last few visits it seems to have been in decline. Does the kitchen care? Last night brought over... More

Fresh fish, cooked to your specs, and not NYC 'crazy' expensive. That's a hard to find combo. Other menu items very nicely prepared - I usually get a combination of apps and sides for the main course. Space is quite comfortable - table placement roomy and noise level tolerable even on a very busy Saturday night. Service is friendly and efficient.... More

After sitting for 30 minutes, I finally asked the hostess if we could be seated somewhere there was service. The restaurant wasn't even crowded at this point. She went to find a waiter and when he showed up no apology for the wait. The person serving water and bread was nice but waiter seemed not happy to be there. The... More

Having visited Greece and its many islands more than 100 times this restaurant is about as Greek as Velveeta is real cheese. The menu is all made up of what people think is Greek food but is just standard American fare with a few Greek words thrown in. The tzatziki, a most basic Greek ingredient, was utterly inedible. This place... More

We enjoyed a little pre theater dinning with a few of our party having the Theatre Prix Fixe and the rest of us eating from the regular menu. You cannot go wrong with the Bass; either the Mediterranean Sea Bass or the Black Bass both exquisitely grilled, I know I tried them both ;-). It was the perfect meal before... More

Superb food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. The chicken dish was absolutely up there as one of the best dishes I have ever eaten. We were staying in the Sofitel on the same block and was an unexpected find and utter delight!

good greek food, fresh fish, great service. Due to the area the restaurant gets filled with after office people who go to get a drink. It's a pretty loud place.

I hosted a party here for 21 adults and three young (4,5 and 7) children. I and all of my guests thought the food, service and atmosphere were outstanding. Their events manager, Vivian Schmidt, could not have been more helpful in planning the party. And, while she was on vacation when the event occurred, it was clear she had made... More

Problem with a reservation at another restaurant, we found ourselves scrambling to find a nice place for dinner. It is December on a weekend and Manhattan is as crowded as usual during the holiday season. My daughter did a search for nearby restaurants in the theatre district. She came across the Kellari Taverna and they told us to come right... More
