Ate there with my son this weekend. Sushi, appetizer and Lobster were perfect. From the ultra fresh crab, to the the perfectly just-toasted sesame seeds, details matter here. Martinis were well chilled and promptly delivered. Melinda was excellent. I really don't get some of the negative reviews-definitely not my experience. more

Yet another dreadful Celebrity chef disaster...what are people thinking...even the Tadao Ando designed interior (which is pretty fab) isn't enough to warrant a visit. more

I've dined at Chef Morimoto's restaurants in three countries and have never been disappointed. It was a thrill to visit the flagship. The downstairs bar was packed with a Wall Street type crowd. Upstairs was also busy and a bit more hectic than I would have expected as Morimoto's restaurants in Japan and India are more low-key affairs. Let's just... more

I've lived in NYC for over 20 years and am accustomed to the hyperbole used to describe restaurants but this mess of a restaurant wins the prize for the most overrated, unpleasant and expensive joint in town. If you're 25 years old and don't know any better, you might get a kick out of the ambiance at Morimoto which will... more

I've been to many restaurants with a reputation for trend, cusine or hype. I will have to say that Morimoto delivered. Our table was not quite ready when we arrived so had drinks downstairs. The decor was just sooo beautiful, even the bathroom was impressive. Seriously! I wasn't sure what I wanted to drink, so the bartender asked me a... more

Don’t let them sit you in any of the two small rooms at the left and right of the entrance. While the main dinning room is very nicely decorated and still looks like new, these two smaller rooms are very plain and look run down (the “white” walls are not white any more). I couldn’t fully enjoy my food in... more

Lovely room, fabulous sushi bar in both looks and staff, very innovative Japanese menu for other choices, and some of the best sushi outside of Japan. I had thought this place would be mostly hype, and not up to the standards of Yasuda, but I was dead wrong - certainly more "trendy", but one would expect that from trekking down... more

My wife and I dined here while on vacation in NYC. We just did sushi, so can't comment on the entree items, though other patrons seemed happy. We ordered maki rolls: ell, spicy tuna, soft shell crab, and salmon. All were well prepared and the fish was of high quality. We had the calamari salad, as recommended by our server.... more

the sushi was very good but no better than many other Japanese restaurants in NYC. This is all about the experience of the place. Great date night place to impress more
