just coool !

Loved the way the place looks, loved the waiters, and loved the music ! I had a vegetarian sandwich and a coffee, both good. Above all, a good place to have a seat, relax and take in the good vibes

Not sure why this spot gets such good reviews? It cannot be for the Huevos Rancheros or coffee! Atmosphere is funky hipster, charming. Floor staff is good. Umm…not much else to say. Bottom line: will try someplace else next time.

Had some good brunch/breakfast on Saturday morning (they open early which suited me well). Lovely staff also, and liked the decor.

Went there for brunch on Sunday ... $17.50 included a drink, (great!) coffee and food. I got the special, a chorizo omelette, that totally rocked. It's rustic, so don't go looking for flashy decor, or a fab bathroom, but the food was delicious and the staff friendly. Cash only, and busy on weekends.

What a cute place! If you are going one time, do yourself a favor and get the banana pancake. It's one of the best I've ever had. But remember, CASH ONLY!

Have gone here twice this summer while visiting friends in NYC. Got the iced Mud mocha coffee which was some of the best coffee I've ever had, and got the banana pancake, which yes was only one pancake, but was so big and so thick and SO GOOD that I had to take a whole third of it to go.... More

One of the coolest spots in the East Village. Beautifully done with great attention to detail. There are a variety of breakfast options with Mexican elements in a lot of them. I loved my enchilada and my wife loved the breakfast burrito. The cappuccino was seriously good too. Good value for money. Very friendly staff. Awesome place.

Called into Mudspot (also known as Mud) to meet friends for a coffee whilst over in NYC. This place had a great vibe, as well as friendly and knowledgable staff. I recommend the Mud Mocha, damn nice... The East Village is a cool, happening place. Hell, Jimi Hendrix old apartment is in the same street.... If I am correct, the... More

We visited for brunch on the recommendation of our son who has been studying here. Although fairly tight on space we were comfortable enough to enjoy our excellent brunch. There was a really interesting choice of brunch dishes and a good selection of drinks. For a fixed price you got your meal, a large coffee and a cold drink too... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
