Description: Located steps from Manhattan's Theatre District and the famed Carnegie Hall, Ed Sullivan Theater, and City Center, Abboccato Italian Kitchen serves some of New York City's finest authentic, yet simple Italian cuisine, spanning the diverse regions of Italy from Sicily to Lombardi. Executive Chef David Arias serves up regional dishes featuring ten varieties of handmade pasta, a selection of shared-plates, and an approachable six-course chef's tasting menu. To accompany the meal, guests can enjoy Italian wines and cocktails featuring traditional Italian spirits and modern preparations, including herb and fruit-infused ice cubes. In addition to the savory Italian cuisine, Abboccato's dessert menu allows diners to end their meal as elegantly as they started it.

When going to Carnegie Hall, Abboccato is the venue for a pre concert treat for yourself and guest. The service, food are exceptional. The staff takes pleasure in their work both on the floor and in the kitchen. Everything is prepared, cooked and server to continual high standards. The ambience here is pleasurable and you have the feel of an... More

We arrived at the restaurant and were seated near the back. Further at the back was a table of four. And then another visitor appeared, small and grey and moving rapidly.... I saw him first out of the corner of my eye running towards the table of four. They finally saw him and called over the waiter who called the... More

Quite a range of reactions from four friends who chose this restaurant because of its location directly across the street from our show at City Center. We chose three items from the "Small Bites for Sharing" section of the menu and were pleased with the Crispy Risotto Fritters, the Bruschetta of the Day, and the Grilled Shrimp Oreganata. The four... We had heard mixed reviews of Abboccato so had not tried them. Then, because the theater performance let out at 4:20 and this was the only place on the street that opens for dinner at 4:00, we decided to take a chance. Generally, the dining experience was positive. We were seated in a corner booth and this helped to insulate... More

My sister and I were walking by when we saw this small charming restaurant and were very happily surprised to see what a wonderful pasta they have. I recommend 100%

Went here on recommendation. Arrived for dinner and was seated in a booth. The lighting from above felt like we had spot lights on us. We eventually asked them to turn them down which they did and this helped. However, the atmosphere was still odd. Kind of reminded me of a fancy Denny's. That sounds caddy but it wasn't warm,... We discovered Abboccato while staying at The Blakely Hotel. Their sign advertising Happy Hour with cicchetti attracted us. Cicchetti are small plates of a variety of yummy Italian offerings. We tried the arancini (risotto fritters), grilled shrimp oreganata and polpetti (Nona's meatballs). All were well prepared and delicious. We also tried a Montepulciano that was smooth and just right. This... More

This restaurant is on West 55th Street, right across from City Center. The food is very good, the service is very good, and it is "calm." Busy but not frantic, and quiet enough so that you can have a real conversation with your dinner companions. It is fairly expensive, but no more so than any other restaurant in this general... More

There were five of us, and since it was a rainy evening in Manhattan, we straggled in. We had reservations and so the host allowed the first two to sit as soon as we arrived (we were early, but since it was raining, we didn't want to just walk as waste time). The atmosphere was good, and the food ok... More

Good italian restaurant but it's more expensive then other nice alternatives. You can easily share the fix price menu, as there are lots of food, so that you can go to desert, which a recommend a lot!
