Staff not very friendly

Stayed in the adjoining Blakely hotel and had breakfast here each morning as part of the room rate. Pretty basic continental fayre. Staff came across as surly and not very friendly. Restrooms are the smallest I have ever seen. Stand up from the toilet and your toes are under the door and your nose... read more

We stayed in The Blakely Hotel which adjoins Abboccato and where the hotel breakfast is served. Breakfast was no more than average, with average service to boot. We had dinner there once, and again - there was nothing wrong, but also nothing impressed us enough to dine there again during the two weeks we stayed at the hotel. I think... More

A friend chose Abboccato for dinner for 3. We had a very ordinary meal -- food was OK, service was fine, ambiance was very typical New York bistro and prices were reasonable. But there are many better choices nearby, so I doubt we will return.

Dropped in for lunch. The wise guy sandwich was great. Salads were good. Service was ok, timely, not very personable.

Our visit to Abboccato was near the end of the pre-theater rush. Service was slow but not bad. The server seemed a little bored and had trouble opening wine bottles. The restaurant is small and a little tight but well furnished and decorated. During the colder times of the year, the restaurant fills with a rush of cold air each... More

Good food, solid service, no fuss. Bonus points for the eclectic music (Ben Folds deep cuts at an Italian restaurant, no kitsch here) played at reasonable volume.

This was our second time staying in the hotel next door with the breakfast in Abboccato included in our rate. The entrance to the dining room is right off the lobby, so definitely convenient, especially on a cold day. The buffet had a selection of baked goods, but nothing looked morning fresh- more like delivered the night before. Manhattan is... More

Four in our lunch party of 5 ordered the BLT. Little did we know what awaited - the absolute best ever BLT! Nothing was spared. Mounds of bacon, yellow tomatoes sliced then halved and overlapped across the sandwich with lettuce underneath on tasty grilled bread! All this and a side salad as well. Wow! Go get yours!

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
