Description: The first uptown New York location by legendary chef Nobu Matsuhisa...
The first uptown New York location by legendary chef Nobu Matsuhisa, opened to much anticipation in the summer of 2005. Nobu's co-owners are his longtime partners: renowned restaurateur Drew Nieporent, Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro, and producer Meir Teper. The restaurant showcases Nobu's signature New Style Japanese cuisine with classic dishes such as Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeno and Black Cod Miso, and new creations from the wood burning oven and the hibachi table.

Bar with Nice Atmosphere

I used a bar area to drink cocktails with my wife. The atmosphere of the bar was good as we had felt when looking into from outside. Especially, I loved lots of Japanese Sake containers piled up above the bar counter. The Mojito and Martini with Olive were tasty, but I was a bit surprised at the... read more

I know, I know, it's NY and you're Nobu but for God sakes do you have to be such snobs?? I absolutely love the food here which is why we come back but the obnoxious service - especially at reception is enough already. In general wait staff is great and does not suffer from the front desk affliction but after... More

Great ambiance - food is delicious - the lamb is out of this world - food is pricey but it well worth it. I would go again.

Went there on a week day night around 7 :30, the place was incredibly loud. We thought it would be quicker just to get the chef selection so all 6 of us got the 180 +tax per person chef selection. While the food was very delicious and creative, it took way longer than it needed and we did not think... More

My husband surprised me with a visit here for our anniversary and we left very happy campers. We arrived early for our 5:45 reservation and had a drink at the bar. After a while, someone came over and let us know they were seating, so up the stairs we went. We were met by friendly faces and a chorus of... More

I have been to Nobu in Vegas and Matsuhisa in Aspen a number of times so I obviously love the food, and we weren't disappointed by this meal. Granted, it's always very expensive, but I never regret going to one of his restaurants. The food is consistently excellent and the service is very good, if a bit stiff and rushed... More

Nobu is very reliable and consistent. Another great location in Midtown, the food is amazing, but it is about the show and the service at Nobu, and the do it all well

We had dinner at Nobu this past Saturday night and the food was amazing and the service great. The range of flavors and great presentation made for an incredible gastronomic experience. I know they have locations all over the world and it is now a big chain but do not let that deter you. It was an expensive night but... More

Our drinks, appetizers, main course and extra sushi orders were all 'thrown' at us within 14 minutes of being seated. 28 minutes after being seated a dessert menu was pushed in front of us. After making a 6:15 reservation, we received a call asking if we'd be finished by 8:00 as they had another reservation at that time. We moved... More

Yes, it's true. Only average. Over-cooked edamame (how hard could this be?), a $57 "pitcher" of sake which was not fully chilled, and sashimi which was good, but average. I get better quality sashimi from my neighborhood take-out spot (and it's significantly less expensive) Sorry, folks. There are so many choices for sushi / sashimi in NYC -- I encourage... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
