Typical New York - get a lot of major media attention simply because a bunch of magazine editors walk by your shop on the way to work and suddenly, you're Jesus and tourists are trekking to see you. After reading about this place on TripAdvisor, I had to try it while in New York. It was a hike--we took the subway to Canal St. and it was a very long walk from there.
