Great after a sandwich at Katz's (save room)

Ultra high end gelato... you cant go wrong...taste it all, eat it all..(not at the same time)...it's a fantastic place. Enjoy the basics too but dont forget to try some new funky flavors!

We came here after it was recommended by the guy at Melt as somewhere that would probably have a lactose-free option. And, indeed, they did have many flavors of sorbet. I got raspberry and blackberry, both of which were lovely and refreshing on a hot August day. My husband, who has a bit less trouble with lactose than I do,... More

Good ice cream - can't say it was my absolute favorite - but good. Limited flavors but nicely situated if you're staying at the Ludlow!

As the name suggests, this is not a regular ice cream parlour. However it looks more like an ice cream shop with a small preparation area than a lab. The smallest order is for two scoops of the many interesting flavours on offer. The scoops are small for the price $4.25. The ice cream was pleasantly flavoured. The selling point... More

I think I saw a report about this place on TV when it first opened. I went there with friends immediately after having a late lunch at Katz's deli across the street. I liked the little plastic bowls, and there were the options of gelato or sorbet (What? Isn't that French?). Of course, I had lemon and it's August, so... More

I was treated to 3 flavors by my daughter who know I love pepper. The Tarragon pink peppercorn gelato was wonderful. I also tried ginger and Mexican cinnamon- also delicious. Would love to go back when the other peppercorn flavors are available! There were many flavors available and customers are allowed to sample two.

Excellent collection of traditional and trendy flavors. Wish they offered a "kids" single scoop. They will only give you two and a separate container - so you have to divvy up. Seems silly...

Great flavors. Loved the cucumber paired with olive oil. So refreshing. Perfect for the summer. Right across from Katz Deli so grab lunch then head here for a sweet bite.

It's definitely one of the better places in New York. They allow 2 sample spoons before you settle into your small cup of 2 scoops. They have a few low-sugar flavors like herbals or veggie versions. Yesternight I had pear sorbet and washed it down with cucumber sorbet... very summer.

This is the best Gelato in New York. If you get a milkshake, you HAVE TO try a dark chocolate and salted caramel thick shake!!! Simply heavenly.... just phenomenal. So many flavors, so many possibilities... You can't possibly go wrong.

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
