Amazing Sorbet

This place is a must! The place looks like a laboratory. The employees wear lab coats too! The sorbets come in a diverse range of flavors and are made on the premises.

After a disappointing lunch at Katz's Deli next door, we stopped by this gelato place. Their gelato is absolutely fantastic! I had the chocolate mint and bourbon pecan. WOW! Forget what Meg Ryan's having at Katz's, cross the street to Il Laboratorio and load up on gelato.

Used to visit this place frequently few years back when living in NYC. Went back for vacation and tried it again- Gelato here is excellent and worth the money. Parking is difficult to find though. The flavors we had- Thai chilly chocolate, black sesame, milk chocolate, fresh mint, dark chocolate orange and salty caramel. Last two flavors were the best.

This very much resembles a sterile laboratory including the smell of bleach. However the ice cream is delicious. I recommend scoops of Armagnac and amaretto crunch.

The staff were not really happy to be there - the smell of bleach is overwhelming and I tried going there twice but it was the same each time

Ok, so this place does look like a bit of a laboratory - a relatively small customer area is in front of a huge workshop and the staff are all practically dressed in white coats. It's very cool (no pun intended) though, so don't let that put you off. There is an absolutely HUGE range of flavours. We popped in... More

We live nearby so are able to come here regularly. They have amazing flavors including our favorites ginger, black mission fig, chestnut and any of the chocolate gelatos, and lychee and watermelon sorbettos. Even when very crowded, the line moves fast and the servers are friendly.

Love this place. Not only is the gelato yummy, they change the selection quite frequently. So you really get a flavor (pun intended) of what this place has to offer, a range of fruit flavors, herb and spice flavors (cardamom is to die for!), tea flavors, and some of the traditional ice cream flavors. Can't wait to go back this... More

Popular place for an after dinner icecream whether you have eaten out or at home. Take a number, review the offerings in the glass case and make your selections of two, three, or four scoops. Served in handy little tubs by a friendly and obliging staff, we enjoyed the tasty gelatos. Two free tastings only! I had exotic Prune armagnac... More

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
