Best Creative Ice Cream Place

I sometimes buy their sorbets to present for dinner to copy some of the haute cuisine restaurants I've been too. Like they could have cucumber sorbet! I once had that and put it on top of a gazpacho soup as first course. Or just eat it there. The array of flavors is phenomenal!

The range and complexity of flavors they have here is wonderful. I am never disappointed coming here after a meal. Just be prepared, they have very little seating along the walls and its a very strike looking environment, but don't let stop you from having some off the best gelato in the United States.

We've been all over the world sampling/comparing/contrasting gelato. In New York City, there are some nice contenders for best overall quality, but we believe that you will not find any better gelato than what 's available at Il Labratorio del Gelato. This business's main emphasis is to supply NYC restaurants with gourmet gelato...but with a take-a-ticket dispenser located right where... More

Great gelato with an outstanding selection of flavors. 5 stars. I had the caramel (average), cinnamon (superb) and malt (also superb, but would have been better with some vanilla). My friend had the prune and brandy and the beets. She loved both. G-Lab is one of the finest gelato places in the country. How does it stand up to another... More

Gelato: bomb. so bomb. amaretto crunch is so delicious. we got the blackberry since we thought it was a nice balance between creamy and tart. scoops are on the smaller side... but still worth it in my opinion. get the amaretto crunch. you will not regret it. Ambience: very open space. white walls accented with orange and blue. large windows... More

I am not a big fan of American ice cream, as it's normally too sweet, too thick, too artificial and normally full of additives and cookie dough chunks or choc chips... This is the real deal! It's authentic ice creams and sorbets, and they do even funny flavours. I'd always go downtown for a treat. Trust me if you are... More

Had beet gelato, and it was awesome! This says it all. Really good icecream and definitely best place for experimenting with flavors. Not much place to sit though so just make your choice, take your icecream and walk around the area.

Laboratorio Gelato is an interesting looking place, just like a laboratory. It's across the road from Katz's Deli & a few minutes walk from Economy Candy, so could make for a very indulgent few hours indeed! Huge range of flavours, including pink peppercorn, basil & salted caramel. You can have two free tastes before buying. Our favourite was the lavender... More

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
