Unique flavors in a cool environment.

It looks like a laboratory, with white coated servers scooping up from a selection of unique and interesting offerings. We had Thai Chili Dark Chocolate (very spicy too!), Blood Orange Dark Chocolate and Fresh Mint and all were great!

The chocolate was excellent. Several other favors were very light and could hardly taste them. I like Cesibon in Naples FL much better.

I really enjoyed these two flavors (especially brown sugar) and far as gelato in NYC goes, it's pretty good; nothing too fancy.

With so many choices nearby I would opt for another gelato stop. The sterile environment along with the uninterested help set the tone. We ordered gelato anyway and found the flavors to be dull.

They have many flavors but what you get depends on what they are making that day. Plenty to choose from. The sour cherry sorbet is wonderful, but only available in the spring. No seating, so eat on the go.

I went to il Laboratorio only once when I was bringing friends to the famous Katz Deli, across the street. The ice cream is very good, but it's kind of pricey.

All the gelato was fresh and great. The only downside here is that it's all fantastic, making picking a few flavors terrifying and overwhelming. Great, great problem to have.

My experience at Il Laboratorio del Gelato was mixed. I ordered two flavors, the salted carmel and the pistachio. The salted carmel was everything I'd hoped for; the pistachio, filled with slightly stale, over-roasted pistachios, was a profound disappointment.

If you are in New York you have to try this Gelato. Not expensive and a vast selection of flavours which you can combine to create your own favourite combinations.

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
