Personal service. Great food. Excellent Omekase. We are regulars. They charge NY prices, but the food and experience are worth it.

When I arrived for lunch, I wasn't sure if the restaurant was even in operation, although I had made a reservation. It was empty on a Sunday afternoon. Granted, the food is still VERY GOOD, but for the prices (on the expensive side... $50 for a lunch set), you can go elsewhere with all the other new Japanese places that... More

Came here last year and since then the quality of lunch seems to have dropped. We had the sushi deluxe set and a tempura and it was really quite average for the price paid. The sushi wasn't really better than your average place and what was really surprising this time around was how pushy the waitresses were with maximizing your... More

This is the Gari's location I go to most often, but it seems to be more difficult to get a reservation here than the UES location. Sushi is slightly less well prepared than the UES location, but the space is larger and more inviting.

Dined last night while on a business trip to NY and wanted to try something in a more residential area. We should have stayed in Midtown. We got the omakase and several pieces were very tasty. But out of 12 pieces, maybe 4 or 5 were memorable. The problem was that there was little range of flavors. Favorites were the... More

Very good sushi but poorly run. A party of 3, we were seated at a table that would have been cramped for 2. Our order--Sushi special ($55), Tuna special ($55), and two rolls--came in three dishes that were so big they couldn't fit on the table without our small dining plates partly off the table. A glass of wine was... More

I eat there every month. The sushi is excellent, all the rest is very good. I don't like the main dishes as salmon teriyaki or the beef teriyaki . The desert are also good. Service is good but pushing as many others. Price is fair for the quality .

Lots of places around this area, but this is very fine Japanese indeed. Be prepared for a pricey trip, but enjoy. Have met various people who come over from Gari's east side branch to enjoy this one.

Gari is without a doubt, the best sushi on the upper west side. It's ALWAYS fresh, no matter what day you're there. And their hot entrees are also fabulous. Not to mention the hijiki salad. Yum!
