Had a business dinner here. Like the more casual environment on the grill side of the restaurant, a restaurant within a restaurant. The enormous shrimp in the cocktail were very flavorful. Order the Colorado ribeye to split with a colleague and went home stuffed. Very good steak that was cooked right. Our Irish waiter was a blast.

Food is stunning here! Nothing more to be said! Steaks are great! I had a bone in sirloin, wife had a bone in Fillet. Both were done to perfection! Great wine and cocktail choice. If you want something a bit special then these guys have loads of choice. Bottles of red ranging from $50-9000! I've given this a 4 as... More

The Smith & Wollensky is one of my favorite steak houses in NY. I like the busy atmosphere and the plain vanilla interior. So far, I never needed a reservation when I passed by and looked for a table close to the bar. The steaks are great as is the Smith & Wollensky red wine that I enjoyed with the... More

A drab imitation of a "men's club". Convenient location near Rockefeller Ctr. But in a city of countless steakhouses this tourist trap can be ignored. I'm unhappy that the steak came out so undercooked it still had a chance to be alive. The lamb chops so overcooked they didn't have a chance. Humor aside, the servers didn't care and had... More

Lunched with friends during Restaurant Week. Had not eaten here in decades. Three-course RW special exceeded my expectations. Filet mignon entree was excellent, cooked to perfection, and the juicy lobster tail was a superb complement. The New England clam chowder appetizer was just as good. One of the better RW values I've experienced.

You cannot miss this unique building on 3rd Avenue in the swing of things in the city. Gigantic shrimp cocktail, salads to start with or other shellfish, but the star here is the steak: prime beef, filets, strips, bone in or out, tomahawk rib eyes that could feed a tribe, expertly grilled to perfection, plus a nice wine list and... The roast beef hash is to die! Also try the coconut cake. It has been featured on Food Network's "The best thing I ever ate", and you'll see why.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
