Description: One of America's most successful restaurants, this New York steakhouse opened in 1977 and has been a hit ever since. It is one of the most trafficked restaurants in New York City and among the most celebrated steakhouses in the world. Specializing in fresh seafood and lobster and assorted steaks and chops, Smith & Wollensky is well recognized for its healthy portions, seasoned service staff and pop Americana ambience. The painted wood exterior is dark forest green trim on sparkling white, with latticework trim. The elegant interior has turn-of-the-century appeal and design elements including shining brass, dark wood accents and polished wood floors. Adjacent to Smith & Wollensky's is Wollensky's Grill. The Grill (entrance on 49th St) is open from 11:30AM till 2:00AM but does not accept reservations.

Steaks prepared to perfection. Hashbrowns and onion rings are great. Service good but a bit pricey. One of NYC old steakhouses.

Having visited the above restaurant in Las Vegas and found it a great place to eat it was a must whilst in New York. We managed to get booking which we thought might be difficult due to tennis but they were very helpfull and fitted us in. When we arrived the staff were pleasnt and helpfull and guided us to... More

First came here in 1978 and have never been let down with the food ,Lobster ,Steaks and excellent desserts. Faces change but quality stays in the upper bracket. I still make the chef of 1979's carrot soup recipe at home so a wee bit of New York is frequently on my menu. I recommend both restaurant and grill as all... More

Taste of old New York. Worth coming just for the hash browns. Huge portions, well seasoned. If you are looking for health food, this is not your place. My steak was slightly charred, but still tasty. I wasn't paying, so I can't speak to the issue of price/value. Atmosphere/decor was fitting. Wait staff were pleasant. I'd definitely come back, especially... More

We arrived a little early so had a drink at drink at the bar which was nice and relaxing, table ready on time, steaks were amazing plus we loaded up a little on side dishes which was overkill so you only need a few to share as the portions are good. Wine list extensive but pricey, overall not at all... More

I can sum this review up in a few words. They have good steaks. However, not on a par with Peter Luger's, Sparks or Gallagher's.

we made late reservations very easily on "OPEN TABLE" while we walked from our nearby Grand Hyatt . Seating was done quite quickly and we taken a booth in the rear. We soon moved to a table, which was much more room. Waiter service was what saved the night. Although he did forget an item that was order , we... More

Husband and I eloped and married at City Hall. Came here to celebrate. From the drink at the bar to finally leaving we had the best time. Great atmosphere and lovely staff, particularly our waiter, Branko, who had time to chat whilst attending to his tables. Steaks were amazing and the chips and onion rings were awesome (I'm fussy about... More

Had drink at the bar - nice and relaxing. Had great wine by the glass (cakebread and Chilean Cabernet). We had filet-in-bone and ribeye-blackened. Filet was great, ribeye was a bit too fat and not medium how I asked. Crabcakes for the ladies was superb! Service was great! A bit pricey thought. Would come back again
