Great place for steak and wine

Great grilled steaks, especially the rib eye, coupled with a vast wine list. The waiters are entertaining by themselves.

I do visit this restaurant since mid 80s and have always enjoyed dining there. Food is great, service is great, not cheap but worthy. I visit them several times every year.

Really busy restaurant, serving very good quality food in a dining room, bursting with atmosphere. Steaks and Fish are excellent - that's the great thing about these great NY steak houses, they also serve great fish. Just what you would expect in this high energy City. Tables are a little close together, in some areas of the restaurant, which can... More

It was just a very nice evening. Everything from the restaurant, the service, and the meal was exceptional. My husband I couldn't say enough good things about the evening. Our server was so friendly. Everything was served promptly and what was supposed to be hot was hot and what was supposed to be cold was cold. No complaints. Our steaks... More

Packed. Super full. Quite noisy. But goooood. Super good. Portions are so big that your average European could probably just order one steak and then share it with a group of friends, but quality is excellent and that's the only thing that matters to me when I want to eat good meat in a restaurant. Also impressed by the choice... More

At first I thought this was going to be overly priced and stuffy, but the staff was warm and welcoming, the food was outrageously good (salmon was the perfect meal...yes, I know its a steak house). Had fun with the waitstaff in a wonderful, upbeat just the right amount of noise restaurant!

I had visited Smith and Wollensky in Chicago and had a very good experience. I had the large filet mignon au poivre. The steak was coated in a "glaze" thickened with corn flour and was very unappealing. The steak itself was not the usual center cut filet and despite having a large steak knife, proved difficult to cut and partially... More

May be I am not used to New York steaks ( even though I did have better). But there is something wrong in my mind about the quality, or rather the heaviness of the food here. It is of course not bad at all. But I expect much more for a place with the reputation and price tag of Smiths's.... More

Having eaten at S&W in Las Vegas and Boston, we were once again pleasantly received, served and delighted by the elegance of the service, the bone-in filet mignon cooked to perfection, the sides of mushrooms and creamed spinach (although $14 for a small bowl is definitely a NYC price...) My husband ordered me a half bottle of Syra wine that... More

I think this was the last hold-out in terms of steak houses I had yet to eat at in NYC. It never interested me to eat here since it's been around so long. However I have been missing out! Service was impeccable and drinks were like 'NYC gay bar' strong, and my feller NYers will know what I mean by... More
