Description: One of America's most successful restaurants, this New York steakhouse opened in 1977 and has been a hit ever since. It is one of the most trafficked restaurants in New York City and among the most celebrated steakhouses in the world. Specializing in fresh seafood and lobster and assorted steaks and chops, Smith & Wollensky is well recognized for its healthy portions, seasoned service staff and pop Americana ambience. The painted wood exterior is dark forest green trim on sparkling white, with latticework trim. The elegant interior has turn-of-the-century appeal and design elements including shining brass, dark wood accents and polished wood floors. Adjacent to Smith & Wollensky's is Wollensky's Grill. The Grill (entrance on 49th St) is open from 11:30AM till 2:00AM but does not accept reservations.

The atypical NYC steakhouse has, as you can imagine awesome food. The only downside that bothered me was how close the tables were. Literally I felt that I could reach over and take the next tables bread basket by accident. It's definitely not a place for a quiet supper. Superlative wine list and the food is amazing.

Very large portions but great food. Meat is their speciality even though fish dishes looked delicious. Great service but quite expensive.

Such a great place to have a nice meal before we hit the Yankee's game. Food was great. Atmosphere was fun and the service was exceptional. Enjoyed our conversation with our waiter - who knew so much about the restaurant, the food, and history of the place. Great stop!

Had a Tres Bon night here, just quality steaks with a real New York atmosphere. Waiters had a real laugh with you and made you so welcome, reccomending specials and wine and then we finished up with Large Flaming Sambucas

We Decided to try this place on a recommendation. Beautifully appointed, placed white table cloth dining room. We were greeted promptly and seated, without reservations I might add. Our waiter was very good and explained the menu to us We were served complimentary champagne upon arrival as it was our anniversary. We were a party of 4 and most of... More

I was in August 2014 there. Ok the grew was very professionals. The food was average for us .I ate lamp chops. Ok was for amateurs. Im from Greece and I m Lawyer. I think in Greece and Italy there are many better steaks restaurants. Its must to come and eat really lamp chops in every tavern in Greece.

This place is amazing! The steak is so tasty and the portions are massive! You will not be disappointed. The waiter service was spot on and they were always asking if they could be of any more help. The desserts looked wonderful however we were too full to fit one in. If we visit NYC again we will certainly return!

I was just at lunch at Smith and Wollensky with a group of 14 people. We had the Hall Cabernet for the table. The price was in the middle (100$) per bottle and it was excellent. We had seafood platters for the table (jumbo shrimp, lobster and stone crab) and I have to say that the seafood was fresh and... More

We always visit when in NYC as this was the first restaurant my wife and I ate at. Food is consistently great, servers are NY proud you sometimes have to have a good sense of humour but they always are willing to chat. Visited for our wedding anniversary and had champagne, dessert and drinks provided by our 25 year veteran... More
