Description: One of America's most successful restaurants, this New York steakhouse opened in 1977 and has been a hit ever since. It is one of the most trafficked restaurants in New York City and among the most celebrated steakhouses in the world. Specializing in fresh seafood and lobster and assorted steaks and chops, Smith & Wollensky is well recognized for its healthy portions, seasoned service staff and pop Americana ambience. The painted wood exterior is dark forest green trim on sparkling white, with latticework trim. The elegant interior has turn-of-the-century appeal and design elements including shining brass, dark wood accents and polished wood floors. Adjacent to Smith & Wollensky's is Wollensky's Grill. The Grill (entrance on 49th St) is open from 11:30AM till 2:00AM but does not accept reservations.

This restaurant adds a flavour of history with an excellent steak. The waiters are friendly yet efficient. Finding out that a lot of them had been there 20-30 years shows the commitment they have to the restaurant. A definite must if you're in New York. Just don't go when you're feeling a bit jet lagged. The steaks are so big... More

The best steak in NYC. Service is top notch. Wait staff are old school professional and knowledgable . Vlad is the man.You won't find a better steak anywhere. Juicy and delicious meats offered with sides that make your mouth water. Wine selection is extensive. Deserts are very good as well. A classic NYC steakhouse that must be visited . The... More

Went to the one in Las Vegas. My wedding day fathers 70th birthday. Staff went above and beyond. Free champagne and a dessert. The steak... was by far the best I have ever had. Gonna be hard to eat another one someplace else. When I compare it to that. Came from Alaska... Great seafood here, but no steak like that.... More

Had a really fun lunch with some friends. Granted one of my friends is a regular, but everything was great. The service could not have been better or friendlier...everyone was also very accommodating. I had crab cake and salad - fabulous crab cake...other folks in the party had crab and asparagus appetizers and some excellent perfectly cooked ribeyes. Wines by... More

I have visited the restaurant with a colleague. The place is big and the quality of food fantastic. I chose a prime rib and it was top quality. Service was not particularly friendly. The problem was the unbearable noise produced by clients talking, laughing and screaming like eagles. They were having fun and maybe few drops of alcohol but it... More

We went looking forward to a delicious steak dinner and it was anything but. After our first bites we all looked at each other with disapproval. The cajun rib steak was salty and didn't even taste or look like a traditional rib steak. The special filet mignon on the bone was tasteless and the meat 2"away from the bone was... More

When of my recent trip to New York, I wanted to eat a good "Prime Rib" Steak, and asked the concierge of the hotel where I would find a good one. He indicated Smith & Wolensky, made a reservation and told them that I would like to be served with "Prime Rib". Well, they really prepared a succulent and juicy... More
