Excellent in all respects: food, service, ambiance

A trip to the US is not complete for me without a dinner of aged steak and a glass of zinfandel. This restaurant chain is consistent in quality, and service at this place is professional and fatherly. I take the end piece of the rib eye. it's very tasty, well-done. Don't be tempted by profiteroles... read more

I went there with three Chinese friends who don't eat steak often, or don't frequent places like this one. Their manner is a little out of place and their English is even worst than Irene's. One of them brought his own tea. Our waiter is experienced whose big belly was as out of place as my friends in this eatery.... More

We met our out of town friends here for dinner and it was terrific. The bar is exactly the type you want to find at a top notch steakhouse. Excellent pours, friendly staff and patrons. Dinner was absolutely delicious. Each course stood well on its own. It had been years since we had been to Smith & Wollensky but I'm... More

Had a delicious lunch, steak was tender, well marbled, and tasty, the service was professional, friendly, and efficient, the atmosphere was the usual for the Grill, relaxed, and most enjoyed. This is my go to steak house in NY, highly recommend.

Very busy place - very loud patrons! Apart from that the food was great. Really well cooked steaks and sides - not cheap but worth the experience.

Our party of five recently visited Smith & Wollensky with the intention of eating their signature food -- steak. Sadly, the dinner was a disappointment. A restaurant that relies upon its name and brand recognition may think that it can tolerate "slippage" in quality - but I disagree. I expected more, and feel like I received far less than even... Been here many times. Had crab cakes (very good) then steak. Colorado rib eye i think it was called. Ok and cooked to order ( was medium as requested) but a bit too much charcoal and not really fantastically tender or juicy as promised. Sides are ok, especially creamed spinach. Curious that they do bit serve any sauces (eg mushroom,... More

I should have read Trip Advisor before going. Upon being seated our table was in the middle and we couldn't hear the waiter or ourselves. Our request to be seated downstairs didn't produce any better results but we decided it was too late (8:30 PM) to go elsewhere. We order the filet bone-in and that was a mistake. We should... More

My mother, little son and I go to Smith and Wollensky for their juicy and delicious prime rib steak to celebrate birthdays and for Christmas Eve as well as New Year's Eve. I could not believe it when my 10 year old son polished off his entire prime rib! He is always asking to go back to Smith and Wollensky!... More
