Description: Geoffrey Zakarian has re-launched the iconic Palm Court at The PLAZA HOTEL...
Geoffrey Zakarian has re-launched the iconic Palm Court at The PLAZA HOTEL with a complete renovation helmed by Master Architect Thierry Despont. Zakarian showcases classic American menus from morning to evening, and while staying true to its original design intent, Despont has brought the grand feeling of Central Park indoors, with garden elements such as caning, large potted plants, four soaring palm trees and an oval trellised bar anchoring the room, creating an ambience that feels warm, private and glamorous. Bespoke furnishings provide a relaxed, yet elegant setting well-suited for either a professional breakfast meeting or an evening of cocktails crafted by mixologist Brian Van Flandern. Afternoon Tea truly shines as well with custom tableware and china, a tea list with worldly depth, and of course, a bit of Eloise too. This elegant room marked with its stained glass dome and impressive height adds a touch of old New York to a very polished and modern sense of hospitality

Worth the visit

My friends and I came here for afternoon tea when we were in NYC for a girls' weekend. We all really enjoyed the experience. Yes, it is pricey. It cost us $85 including tip, but there was plenty of food and the experience was delightful. Service was good. I wouldn't visit often, but the experience... read more

Elegant location, lovely service, class act. We made a reservation for dinner using open table. One of our party had allergies and the wait staff was aware upon our arrival. (Impressive). The hostess greeted us in perfect english but switched to french effortlessly. Our server was kind and attentive. Our tap water was served without ice. (I guess there was... More

My husband and I visited here for the champagne afternoon tea for our first wedding anniversary. It was lovely and the staff were nicely attentive, refilling water and tea. The staff were nice enough to provide some extra macaroons on a decorated plate for our anniversary (not that we could eat them as we were stuffed!) which was a nice... More

It was a nice brunch in famous hotel Plaza! Easy to make reservation of table. You have choice of food sets that will include different small sandwiches, scones, biscuits, tea. This is a very expensive splurge. I knew this going in, can now say I have been and can see no reason why I will ever go back. We arrived early for our reservation and were seated right away. All staff was very friendly. I am not a tea drinker very often and the waitress was helpful with my tea... More

$105 for an afternoon champagne tea!.....well for that price we were expecting something pretty special! The reality was more style over substance. The sandwiches were miniscule and the pastries were certainly 'fancy' but were very sweet and way too much gold leaf! It's an impressive setting, but a little 'stuffy' for my liking. After paying the bill, I felt like... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
