Geoffrey Zakarian has re-launched the iconic Palm Court at The PLAZA HOTEL with a complete renovation helmed by Master Architect Thierry Despont. Zakarian showcases classic American menus from morning to evening, and while staying true to its original design intent, Despont has brought the grand feeling of Central Park indoors, with garden elements such as caning, large potted plants, four soaring palm trees and an oval trellised bar anchoring the room, creating an ambience that feels warm, private and glamorous. Bespoke furnishings provide a relaxed, yet elegant setting well-suited for either a professional breakfast meeting or an evening of cocktails crafted by mixologist Brian Van Flandern. Afternoon Tea truly shines as well with custom tableware and china, a tea list with worldly depth, and of course, a bit of Eloise too. The Perfect High Tea

One of the most beautiful places to enjoy high tea. Its high priced, but the food is high caliber and the tea selection is superb. They even ave an Eloise inspired tea for little ones (or little ones at heart!) If you are thinking of visiting, be sure to make a reservation in advance.

$105 for an afternoon champagne tea!.....well for that price we were expecting something pretty special! The reality was more style over substance. The sandwiches were miniscule and the pastries were certainly 'fancy' but were very sweet and way too much gold leaf! It's an impressive setting, but a little 'stuffy' for my liking. After paying the bill, I felt like... More

To finish off a trip to NYC we decided on afternoon tea at a landmark property and plumped for the Palm Court at The Plaza. We had reasonably high expectations for $60 each and the experience failed miserably in terms of the food. Sandwiches were mainly spread based, the scones came with a weird preserve and even weirder cream, the... More

I've been to several high end world renowned hotels/tea houses (in Toronto, London, Victoria etc.) that offer afternoon tea and was very excited to check this one off my bucket list. However, I was sadly very disappointed. The Plaza Hotels' Palm Court is beautifully decorated, but sadly that's where it ends. Our server, a woman, was quite rude, unfriendly and... More

Went for breakfast here. The room is stunning. Service was unhurried -as it should be to allow diners to enjoy the experience- yet efficient. Waiters were unobtrusive yet appropriately friendly. Food was excellent. Hanger steak was black outside and velvet red inside, cooked as requested. Not cheap, ad expected, but highly enjoyable. I recommend.

We decided to have afternoon tea in the world famous Palm Court located in the Plaza Hotel, Central Park. We had our elderly mother with us and she was so pleased to be able to experience this visit. It is everything you have ever heard about the service at the Palm Court and more. We were made to feel like... More

What a disappointment, afternoon tea at the Plaza is not a good use of your time or money... The food was above average however that is the only redeeming point. The hundreds of staff that work there seem to have had limited training and the manager was as elusive as the service you would expect. So a few points... -... More

I decided to treat my son to breakfast at the Palm Court during a recent trip to NY. From the beginning, the table was not fully set (condiments missing, etc.) The waiter we had took our order and then we never saw him again unless I flagged him down. I ordered toast and it was never brought. When I finally... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
