Lunch at China Grill

Lunch was reasonably priced, three course menu 25USD/person. We had tempura tuna sashimi, spicy beef dumplings, salmon and setchuan beef. Food was ok, nothing special. If I had paid the full price for that menu at dinner, I would have been disappointed. Expected the food to be spicier.

We like Asian. We like pricey Asian, but Ifbthat is what you are looking for go to hakkasan or Tao. This was overpriced uninspired food at best. Restaurant was half empty on a Saturday night as well. Not worth it at all.

I hadn't been here for 10 years, but it was still good. We had a quick dinner before the theatre and everything was delicious. The servicer was attentive and and very pleasant. Its a big open space so not very intimate and a bit noisy. Worth a try.

Completely recommend the beef and scallion dumplings, the souffle, and the udon noodles. Go during happy hour (until 7pm). The rest of the menu was ok, but a bit of a disappointment when compared with those three dishes.

Had another great meal in my second trip to NYC in three weeks. In January my wife and I had their tasting menu, that was terrific with 5 or 6 different items. Tonight I was by myself for their Restaurant Week menu, which was equally superb. Fortunately, I just happened to have Oscar as our waiter both times. He is... More

I went last night with 5 other co-workers. The food was surprisingly amazing. They say family style, and though we shared meals that way, you can eat one plate by yourself. The wasabi mashed potatoes were excellent. I'm going back just for the calamari salad!

We decided on a whim to have dinner here. Last time we do that. Other than the outdoor seating being scenic everything else was sub par. Service was missing. I had to go to the hostess stand and ask where our server was since we had been seated for over 5 minutes with no one approaching us. It took another... More

Caesar salad was a unique and delicious twist on the traditionally named salad. Portion more than enough for two people. The Sweet Soy marinated skirt steak and the grilled shrimp were both perfectly seasoned dishes. The tempura shiitake mushrooms with the steak were tasty. The meals were worth the price which I did not find that expensive. The decor added... More

This used to be a fun retsaurant with a snappy colorful menu, enthusiastic servers and great food.Regrettably the menu is dull and not very informative, and the main course, grilled salmon appeared to have been a recently thawed out frozen Costco special- dry, overcooked and barely edible. Our complaint was met with indifference. The duck salad and the vegetable fried... More

Loved our lunch. We had the calamari salad and duck salad which were both delicious. The 2 dressings were a beautiful combination of sweetness and tartness. Truly loved the flavors. And each salad was generously filled with calamari and duck. Huge portions - one salad could be enough for two. We also had the drunken chicken which was also huge... More

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
