From the first encounter with the staff, you know that this is a premium restaurant - so polite, thorough and professional. The food on the set lunch was incredible - 4 plates of deliciousness, plus an amuse bouche and coffee and petit fours. All courses were fantastic and we left happy customers.

This is a place where you book. Arriving without a reservation usually means a wait and there was a crowd around the hostess station when we arrived over the Easter weekend. With a reservation we had a table near the windows and the garden; result. The menu is interesting - although the concept seems to confuse people. Certainly enough that... More

Thsi is one of the restaurants visited around NY with the best attention. All details are programmed with your visit. The lights, the food, the people make your moment very special. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The Dining Room is business formal and the Bar Room is much more casual. Service is impeccable and attentive. The dishes are beautiful and creative - our amuse bouche was a playful take on split pea soup with whipped sturgeon. The Roasted Foie Gras and Diver Scallop is a MUST HAVE and the pistachio chicken is also pretty amazing. I... More

Two of us had a wonderful....if pricey....lunch this past week. Two glasses of wine, 1 cocktail, 2 three course prix fixe + tip = $198. Not for the faint of heart, however, as a splurge, well worth it. Every bite of our food was outstanding and delectable. I definitely would return, definitely would make a reservation again.....would not want to... More

Not worth it for the quality, and especially not worth it for the price you pay for the privilege. We had a reservation for 8:15 and arrived a little early. We were told sternly that our reservation was for 8:15 to which I responded that we were aware of it. Well, 8:15 came and went and about ten minutes later... More

Went to the Modern with friends for lunch and was very impressed with everything. I had the three course menu with starter, main and dessert and chose: Peekytoe Crab Pork Confit Calvados Baba The Peekytoe crab was amazing and probably one of the best starters I have ever had - great flavours and texture. Just perfect. The Pork Confit was... More

There's always a lively business crowd here after 5PM, and it gets a bit crowded after 6:30, but the bar area is great for catching up over a beer or whiskey. They have some small tables that seat 2-4 people in the bar area which you don't need a reservation for. The single-malt selection is extensive and service is fairly... More

We celebrated our anniversary here with the Prix Fixe lunch and it is impossible to exaggerate in heaping praise on the Modern. Diners may choose either two courses and dessert or three courses and dessert. We chose the first option and left well sated. The chef was celebrating spring and all the tender fresh green things. The amuse boche was... More
