Nice break while visiting the MoMA

This place is very well in line with the Moma material. The cuisine is rather fine for the price range. The meals were delicately prepared and displayed. The room ambiance is special, kanteen style, nice experience.

This is one of the very few restaurants left were you get to enjoy the people not just the food.. A bit small portions, but understandable.. Every dish was very good including deserts (get the bread pudding!) Service was amazing!

I didn't have very high expectations, because sometimes restaurants like this are enjoyed more for location than the food; both were exceptional! We had the tasting menu, with wine parings and the black truffle added in (worth the extra $35). The staff and service were top notch. The best part was our cheese course served in the garden. Don't make... More

Our first Michelin starred restaurant makes us want more! We had a great meal, in a chic atmosphere, with good service and at a reasonable price.

My company has an annual board meeting in New York City. This year we had a private tour of a MOMA show, followed by dinner in one of the private dining rooms at The Modern. What a treat. The restaurant area of The Modern was somewhat noisy, and packed with diners. The private dining room was elegant. On the way... More

The food was actually better than average as restaurants go, but for the price and hype, it was under my expectations. Service at lunch was a bit slow. I waited much too long for an initial drink order and then again for my food order. The food was tasty and inventive, but just not stellar. Overall, it seems a great... More

Everything about The Modern is amazing...the food, the service, the setting, the view of the sculpture garden, and, of course, the chocolate cart! I have dined there for special occasions, with guests who had dietary restrictions and just because. It is always perfect.

Love this place, the dining room or café and bar area, food is lovely, service super, with only flybys, people watching bar none among the best. The view out to the sculpture garden, in any season, feels cozy, real new Amsterdam

My family and I ate here while traveling to NYC. The food was absolutely wonderful! We had sea bass, scallops, and the lobster sausage dish. Everything was excellent, but we all agreed the lobster sausage was the best! The staff were absolutely perfect. Each person was friendly and helpful! My son loved the bread they served, so one of the... More

Had lunch here on Sat. and am sorry to report that the food was dreadful, despite the excellent service and stylish ambience. The tuna sliders and pastas we ordered were tasteless. On top of that, the pasta portions were insultingly miniscule, being best suited to a toddler. This appears to be one of those high-end restaurants where as the price... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
