The Modern is a lovely restaurant right next to the MOMA. Getting reservations can be a bit difficult, but really...the food and the scenery were lovely. You can sit up in the front room, or if it is a lovely early evening, treat yourself and sit in the back section of the restaurant where you can see the Henry Moore... More

The food and hospitality at The Modern is over-the-top fantastic. Starting with the food, we ordered a four course price fixe thinking we may be hungry afterwards based on some other reviews commenting on small portions. Not our experience at all - the portions were more than fair and we couldn’t finish the last dishes brought to us. Also, note,... More

Nearly missed the entrance, so classy inside & really busy, had to sit at the bar but this was not an issue as lots going on around at this restaurant attached to the Museum of Modern Art. I had the seared Scallops- highly recommended, my partner had the Endive Arugula Salad (as well as a Blank Canvas Cocktail-I did have... More

Why near? Only because it rained that night. The restaurant was a delight, the service excellent and the host staff very accommodating to my special requests. The food was delicious, the wine steward very helpful and the entire meal well orchestrated. GO.

We had lunch at The Modern on a Saturday pre matinee. It was amazing. The staff could not be better- warm, great service and just wonderful. The drinks - generous. And the food- amazing! Fresh, tasty, light but satisfying. The restaurant overlooks the sculpture garden- but that section is not open for lunch. It's a duper fun option in midtown.

I just stopped in for a quick lunch, and was pleasantly surprised by just how good this place is. I had two dishes, a cold pea and garlic soup and a poached egg. Both were surprising, innovative, and perfectly seasoned. Also got a drink to go with it, which I would highly recommend as there menu of specialty drinks is... More

Last night my wife, daughter and I had a meal that was truly wonderful. We recently returned from a week in Provence and nothing except the one night we dined at a Michelin Star restaurant compared. First of all, the menu was structured with a nice variety of seasonal items with a wine list that featured nothing but the best... More

Very expensive but the flavors are memorable. Portions are small but artistically presented as is fitting as a prelude to a visit to the museum. The gnocchi and asparagus was wonderful. The service staff was friendly and helpful.

We were concerned that The Modern was "too fancy" for us. However, the staff was great and explained everything to us...what we were getting...what would go well together, etc... The food was incredible, service was great, drinks were awesome! It's expensive, but worth it in our opinion! Dining room looks out at the courtyard of the Modern Museum of Art.... More
