Six of us had a special dinner at the Modern. The food and the service were excellent. We loved all of the little courses that they brought us. The duck and the chicken, as well as the lobster were great. The desserts were out of this world! THis is not an inexpensive restaurant, but I would love to return.

The Modern offers the most delicious, innovative food I have probably ever had - in over 30 years as a dedicated foodie. I would never have imagined putting tarragon in ice cream but it is fantastic (at least when done by The Modern), as was the roasted cauliflower and the poached salmon. It was complemented by an excellent selection of... More

Phenomenal service, ambience and food. We had the four course dinner. We were afraid it might be too much food but it was perfect!

When you make your res, do ask for a table with a view of the sculpture garden. This is an expensive restaurant so get your money's worth. You can eat in the cafe, the first room you enter before the Modern which offers small plates and smaller prices. However, The Modern is a special treat. Price fixed at $140.00 per... More

We had a great dinner at The Modern a while back, and decided to try them for lunch on a recent visit to MOMA. This time we were in the bar area. Biggest surprise: NO TIPPING! So when you look at the prices, remember to discount the prices 15-20%, and when the staff is being super-solicitous, know that they are... More

We were at the MOMA to see the Picasso exhibit and decided to try The Modern for an early lunch. It was perfect. The service was impeccable, the food delicious and beautifully plated and the atmosphere elegant. I'd forgotten this was a Danny Meyer restaurant so we were pleasantly surprised that the tip was included. I think I like this... More

When we are in nyc we make a point of going to modern. Food is always excellent with well paired wines by glass. We always sit at bar- no wait, same menu and always a good conversation with staff and adjacent diners.

Had an outstandingly delicious dinner at The Modern - food has always been good, but on previous trips several years ago it didn't seem particularly memorable. But this was so good I came back the next day to celebrate a friend's birthday over lunch. Particularly delectable items: - the bib/kale/avocado salad (particularly interesting if you order with the dressing on... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
