Real buttercream, real pie, and real coffee (La Colombe) coffee and pulled espresso in a real space!

This place is the real thing- go to the heartless coffee and bakery chains if you require perfection and dull conversation.

I recently moved to the neighborhood and saw the Cup Cake Cafe (at 545 9th Ave., in Hell's Kitchen) as I was walking by. The name sounded fun and the place looked so earthy and relaxing. My first thought was...this could be a great place to become a regular. Well, that ended immediately. The man at the coffee bar (hopefully... More

Dressing was dropped on my daughter and it cascaded over her pants and sweater. A rag was brought over to help her clean up - including the floor around the table which she did. Not one waiter came to help her in this ordeal. I, then, had to get up and asked for napkins since we used the ones we... More

Decided to sit down after a long day of sight-seeing... as many other reviews state, the owners (both the man at the bar, and the woman behind the cupcake counter) were rude, and unfriendly. What a shame, because the place has a bit of character (and an old wooden fridge). When I went to pay the guy was like "errm...... More

Modernizing our worlds will always be ours. Be it in design, technology or forms of socialization, we must keep evolving, irrelevant of the set pace, often irrelevant of high or even destructive costs. But there seems to be a need amongst us for conserving an antiquated, even archaic aspect to our surroundings, parallel to our perpetual evolution towards the next... More

Don't be put off the the dingy interior: Skip the first counter you find and go round to the back where the cupcakes are. Then, don't miss the maple walnut cupcake. The mocha was good, too. But I was impressed that this was not american tasteless whipped fake stuff: It's the real thing. Smooth and buttery, with real chocolate and... More

This cafe is tucked away, smack dab in the middle of NYC madness but oh what a hidden gem! The atmosphere is quaint and quiet, very homey and laid back and the staff is extremely nice and friendly. Now for the good stuff--the cupcakes are AMAZING!!!! Vanilla cake with coconut butter cream cupcake?! Need I say more?...okay--can you say "cappuccino''?... More

When I first moved to New York I decided that cupcake cafe would be the only people to do my wedding cake and ten years later they did. Gorgeous butter cream and lovely decorations and not too expensive :)

This cafe is in a pretty dull location and is totally understated from the outside, but inside it is a little oasis of calm - with incredible cupcakes that are each a work of art, hidden away in the display case at the back of the cafe. A great place to relax and watch the world go by outside -... More

A quaint little cupcake cafe, friendly staff and great hot chocolate. The cupcakes look amazing. The flowers and frosting look sensational, works of art but they are dry and tasteless. I had 3 cupcakes, all different flavours and they were all the same. A major disappointment! I am a cake decorator and have looked so forward to visiting this bakery,... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
