A Place for Breakfast - Diner Style

Food was good but not great. We had breakfast when we first arrived in the city and then tried their famous New York Cheesecake one night after attending a Broadway Show, which was just average.

I went with my husband and 3 children for Dessert one evening. We had a nice table and a friendly and attentive server. It wasn't very busy. Cheesecake portions were massive and the kids couldn't finish them so one piece between two would have been enough. My husband and I had Jamaican coffees which were really nice. Yes expensive, but... On a very hot NYC day (90 Deg Temp), we walked in with my wife's cousin visiting NYC from Australia. The usherette was not friendly at all. But although the place was crowded there was no delay to be seated. The food was very good and proportions pretty huge. We spent over 3 hours & didn't feel rushed & waiting staff... More

Stopped by after the show for dessert. I enjoyed my matzo ball soup but the portion was small w/ very little broth. The strawberry cheesecake was very creamy & delicious. The chocolate cake was out of this world! However at almost $11/slice, both should be....

Visited as next door to our hotel. Busy place however this was the worst food our whole holiday. Starting from abrupt unfriendly woman at front desk to unhelpful waiting staff culminating in most expensive breakfast I've had at 75 dollars for three consisting of bagel and two waffles. Give it a wide berth

I don't like leaving poor reviews as we all have off days..however!!...We had breakfast here during our NYC hol.in May...the food was very average but the service was dire!!....There was an issue was every item we ordered and the waiter clearly was very stressed and kept forgetting stuff!.Very disappointing and it wasn't cheap either..think you could get better elsewhere I... Id you want tradtional heavy you will be disappointed, the staff here are rude & seem like they want to be anywhere else but here! I've been here for breakfast ( nothing great-... More

given the claim that Lindys has been at this spot since the early 1900s I would have thought that they would have learned how to cook and how to select quality ingredients. The food was passable, just. The NY strip tasteless, the chicken sandwich equally flavourless and the meat cooked to leather-like hardness, the burger also dry and without flavour... More

We stumbled upon this restaurant once we arrived late into NYC. The service was not horrible but the food was bordering on bad. My son ordered the kids hot dog meal. It consisted of a split open dog on top of two pieces of bread. Too awkward to eat with the bread. I had the grilled cheese...which arrived burnt. The... More

Food was delicious and cheese cake is divine. Server was extremely pleasant, but host needs to be more friendly and make sure server knows when a new table of guests have been seated. The wait to get drinks was about 15 minutes simply because the server was not told the table was his.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
