Fantastic Italian food

Went to NYC with three friends and we happened upon Via Italia while exploring the streets.. the food was fantastic, authentic homemade. Cost was a little much for the portion side, but it was well worth it for the taste. I had lasagna and it was the best I have had. Service was very positive, too... read more

We came here with another couple before going to a show. It's a real Italian restaurant. Having just visited Italy I can tell you it truly feels like you're in Italy. The food was excellent, the portion sizes weren't huge, but it was enough to fill us all up. We got lasagna and fettuccine Alfredo running us each about $20/plate.... More

Good quality food, nice selection on menu. Starters were a little on the large side. Main course was also a good size portion. Quite busy but not over crowded.

The restaurant has great potential. It has very homey environment. I visited the place for lunch. I felt that lunch choices were not as great as I would have liked. For example for some one who does not eat red meat, it should have choices such as salmon, branzino, tuna etc. I ended up selecting a chicken dish, although I... More

The front of the restaurant has the tourist "try me look" and you should. The menu has something for everyone. The food is well prepared. The staff has the appearance of being all related. You get the feeling that everyone is family and you kind of get treated like family as well. You are served by several generations each having... More

Restaurant was nice. Staff is friendly. Food was average and averagely priced. I had the eggplant fusili wich was $16 for a decent amount of pasta. No wait to get in on a Friday night.

We took lasagna and received it very quickly. It was clearly microwaved, the pastas were hard and the little amount of sauce seemed to be light tomato soup. There was no flavour and cost 18$. We were very disapointed. This restaurant would be perfect for Gordon Ramsay's kitchen nightmares. Avoid this restaurant!

It's a cliché to seek out an Italian eatery in New York; we first went to Via Italia in 2004 because it was close to our hotel and we couldn't be bothered walking far after traveling all day. Imagine our surprise when we happen to have walked into what remains the best Italian restaurant I've ever been to - and... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
