"12 Chairs" is the title of a well-known satirical novel of the early Soviet period in Russian literature. Given the size of this place, it is an appropriate title -at a guess is probably has about 20 chairs. This contributes to a relaxed informal experience. Offerings are very fresh and include (but are not predominantly) vegetarian. Limited wine list. Not... More

We have eaten here before and went back on this trip. The food is exceptional especially the breakfasts. We actually ate dinner here this time and enjoyed it. It is small and usually quiet although this time it was a little noisier.

This SoHo restaurant (56 MacDougal Street) is small but quite lovely -- very busy, with terrific omelettes and falafel/hummus/pita. They make a mean macchiato! Friendly service.

We went for dinner on a Sunday evening having passed by earlier in the afternoon. It looked like it had been full all day and we were lucky to get a table. Food was good - we had burgers but middle eastern food is a speciality - washed down with some nice Israeli wine. Service was pleasant and efficient and... More

This place had great service and excellent food. The space is a little tight along the walls with lots of close seating but spread out more in the middle. We had a hummus and falafel appetizer with fresh baked pita that was delicious. The chicken schnitzel was perfect and the Israeli salad was fresh. I thought the waitress was on... More

been here ten or twelve times over the few years. always very good food, often crowded. unusual menu. great place to bring out of town friends, or a casual business breakfast, or a place to read and have coffee.

This place welcomes w/ an open, airy, & cozy environment, on a busy corner near the Williamsburg Bridge. The staff was helpful & friendly, and accommodated a few personal requests, as well as helping us add more to our choices w/ their custom tweeks. We ordered the schnitzel salad (fried chicken steak on an Israeli salad) & grilled chicken salad... More
