Good for cheap cocktails

The Riviera appears to be a place where you can have an inexpensive meal and drink cheaply....all with sports playing in the background. We appreciate your honest assessment, but we do wish that we could hit all the points of service you would expect. Reading that our servers have "no knowledge of the menu" is disconcerting, so we'll definitely get with the team armed with this feedback. Thanks so much for paying us a visit -- we hope to see you again sooner... More

Have eaten here on a regular basis in the past. It is a convenient location and the food was good. But the last three times the service has been very slow and poor. Each time I told myself that I would give it another try, but no longer. This last time, I was seated by the manager and he took... More

VonBreton, we're sorry that you got slower-than-normal service on multiple occasions. Of course, this is not something we ever want for our customers, - trust us when we say we've taken it to heart. We can assure you we're doing everything we can to improve the speed and attentiveness of our service. We hope you'll come back. Thank you for... More

After staying uptown some days we went down here to eat before Jazz at Smalls next door. Pleasant reception, quick service, good food - and cheap! The appetizers are like a full meal.

We stopped in for a late night meal while wandering around the west village. It was decent weather night so we ate at their outdoor seating. The food was decent and the service was friendly, as others have noted. The Sheridan Square location just steps from the historic Stonewall Inn makes the location the key factor to consider. To be... A sports bar that also has a quaint, Village feel to it. Predictable bar food (chili, burgers, nachos) and good, strong drinks make this a lively, fun, place

This is another neighborhood joint that has just gone right down the tubes. I live in the neighborhood and have been coming here for the past 37 years. I came here about 6 months ago. The service was terrible. The food was worse. I thought it was just a bad day. I came again because it wasn't crowded. I like... More

We wandered Greenwich on a Saturday night and didn’t want to muck out the 90-minute waits in many of the smaller restaurants. Good or bad, the Riviera had plenty of seating. We decided to give it a shot. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. The food was ok. Not spectacular, but good. For the most part, the menu is... More

We ate lunch a Sunday in early October. The food was really bad. I ordered a veggie burger - it was served between to slices of rye bread right from the freezer - still cold in the middle. My son's chicken fingers were burnt and dry, and he found a fly in his ice tea. The bread in my husband's... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
