Afternoon tea

We went to afternoon tea. It was very nice. It was not a fancy hotel or anything that I love all different rooms. And it was a lot cheaper then the high-end places. My favorite sandwich was the chicken. And the scones were really yummy. It was a little too much food so all the desserts we took it... read more

As an Englishman in New York, this reminds me of traditional English faire; You'll love it or hate it. Personally I'm a fan. The prix fixe menu is short, but well chosen, with $4 surcharge for some options. Food was well presented and cooked to perfection. Service was relaxed, as seems appropriate to good digestion, but may appear slow to... More

I first discovered KING'S CARRIAGE HOUSE from friends who were very excited to be taking me there. It is an absolute FIND. A limited menu restaurant with service LIKE YOU REMEMBER where DINING is KING! ( No pun intended ). We were greeted so warmly and seated quickly so we could settle in. We were upstairs in the RED room... More

We spend a great Friday evening at the carriage house. It is a good value fixed price menu with a very reasonable wine list. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The staff and particularly the owner were friendly but respectful. Overall a great character filled experience. I would recommend and will definitely go back.

I have eaten here a few times in the past couple of months because I was taken here on business meals. The food and service have been so BAD. The kitchen is FILTHY!! I speak from repeated experience when I say that the food has been terrible. Orders have been wrong. I was given fish when I ordered chicken, then... More

First i must say the food is excellent. That is the only good thing I can say about this dining experience. The building is a beautiful old townhouse. However do not expect to be seated in one of the nice upstairs rooms, those are reserved for groups. The night we were there celebrating our anniversary the nice upstairs room was... More

King's Carriage House at 251 E 82nd Street, in New York City is truly Fine Dining at its BEST. Dinner has a $49.00 prix fixe menu and the excellent Wine List is sure to help make this an expensive evening. But if you're looking for spectacular food, and impeccable friendly service in a petite, charming, romantic setting where you can... More

Intimate dining setting with impeccable service! The food was delicious and plentiful. We passed by many times and finally made reservations to celebrate Valentine's Day dinner. I love the pre-fixe and the fact that there are only just a few tables in this townhouse.

"Did" High Tea last year and tried lunch on a weekend day. Their fixed-price brunch/lunch menu is short but has something for everyone, and at $20.95 is well priced for what you get. Start with a salad or a fruit plate--the fruit, drizzled with yogurt and honey, was unbelievable delicious, raspberries and blackberries and some of the sweetest cantaloupe I've... More

I traveled in from Connecticut with a confirmed appointment of 11:30 a.m. with Paul to discuss using the venue for my daughter's upcoming bridal shower. (I confirmed the appointment with Elizabeth, the owner, previously.) I was told by a worker that Paul was not there yet but to sit and wait. He served me tea but no food. I waited... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
