The menu was extensive and interesting, familiar to anyone who is used to eating good French food. The wine list was good and varied, the help of the enthusiastic semellier was very helpful. The staff are wonderful and very attentive.

Lafayette is solid - good atmosphere, good food, good service. However, if we're looking at Andrew Carmellini's restaurants, I would say it lags behind both the Dutch and Locanda Verde across all those dimensions. Was hoping this one would live up to the others (which are some of my favorites in the city), but it doesn't quite get there.

So close to China Town with all it's fresh produce ... nothing ever tastes fresh in this place. Even most basic mediterranean dishes taste, like they don't want you to come back ... Bar is OK, and owners are pleasant
