Another Expensive Breakfast But With A View

You can't beat the view of Rock Center skating ring and it is pretty cool to take an elevator down from 50th. You get a modest choice of breakfast (no Lox for example) but you also pay and pay. This upscale cafe is definitely not the type of place where we normally eat breakfast. But we ended up here because we were hungry and couldn't find a diner-type establishment on the street. Located on the bottom level of the Rockefeller Center, this cafe overlooks the Center's skating rink. The fabulous view of the skaters in the iconic outside setting... More

Great location! You can watch your kids skate while you have a nice lunch and a glass of wine. Great selection of wine! The Falafel Burger was served with cucumber-yogurt sauce, arugula and tomato. The house-made kettle chips and dipping sauce were great. The Shrimp Chop-Chop Salad is to die for! My daughters (ages 7 & 9) enjoyed their meals... More

We had our Christmas lunch here. The food was great except for the under cooked chicken. We did receive an apology and a discount on the bill. My kale salad was really good. It was fun to sit and watch the ice skating on the other side of the window. Staff did try to move people on so they could... More

Booked here for Christmas dinner on 25/12 as we were visiting from the UK on our honeymoon. The service was rushed with the main course being served as soon as the starter had been cleared! The server forgot to give bread rolls and the wine we had ordered it was that fast. The whole place was like a cattle market.... More

It was a Monday, MLK Day, and the place was comfortable, not crowded, and rather cosy. The food was upscale dinner fare, the wine a terrific California chardonnay also served at Sea Grill, which is right across the skating rink (same ownership). The predictable--patrons talking pix of the skaters, or selfies with raised glasses, two large parties with smallish children,... More

We were going to the Top of the Rock and decided to get Sunday brunch close by. We did have a wonderful view of the Skating Rink at Rockefeller Center. We ordered a variety of items from the Sunday Brunch Menu. The omelette and pancakes were just average - the brioche French toast was very good. The service was poor... More

If you're not a local finding somewhere to eat Christmas lunch in New York can be a bit of a minefield. We booked the Rock Central Café almost as an easy choice rather than giving it too much thought. When we arrived the Rockefeller centre was unbelievably busy so we were a little concerned particularly when the queue in the... More

The American Brunch is a unique experience that is closely matched - we have an excellent Diner near where I live here in the UK - but never quite the same in other countries. So when we visited New York over the 2015/16 New Year that experience was firmly on the list of ‘must do’ activities. We had never been... More

We reserved a table for a memorable Christmas Eve dinner after the Lion King. When we got off the elevator...we walked into pure pandemonium as it seemed everyone in NY wanted to get in. Not a bad sign. A patient and professional staff calmly seated those with and without reservations - Kudos! The food was good, the presentation was better... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
