Quaint place with good food

I have eaten here 5 or 6 times. The food is good and the staff are friendly as well. I try to stop once every time I'm in town.

We stayed at the hotel next door and after arriving at night and very tired opted for the nearest restaurant .This has in the past proved to be a mistake but on this occasion we were very pleased with things . The food was good and service speedy . This has the feel of an old time Italian

Set in midtown Manhattan, the San Martin restaurant offered us a great menu and very affordable prices. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals in the excellent ambience of the San Martin restaurant.

I tried this restaurant as it was listed in the Playbill from the theater I attended. I was by myself so the waiter pretty much ignored me. Once I had my meal that was it. He never checked on me again. My glass of wine was only filled half full. Full glasses went to larger parties or to the men.... More

Had a wonderful meal here whilst on a visit to New York. Very authentic Italian restaurant and the food was fabulous. Could not fault anything. Even had a pianist playing! Would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Just got to NYC found this place via Trip good reviews. Did not disappoint service was good four out of five like there dishes. The trout was very good. Good chicken parm, the chicken and shrimp in cognac sauce was really good unique flavor, chicken napolentano was not a hit. All in all good.

I have eaten here twice in two years, and both times really enjoyed the food and the service, and the overall ambiance of the place.

I have eaten a this hidden gem at least a dozen times on business trips and have never had a bad experience. Not fussy or fancy, but well-prepared, genuine Italian food. Servers are often Italian, responsive and eager to make diners happy. Veal, Chicken, Beef, Seafood---all are well prepared and quickly served. You will not be disappointed.

I read the mixed reviews but myself and partner thought we would give it a try. It was a few steps from where we were staying that was the plus. The negatives are the food was bland spag bol had no flavour or taste for the price it was very disappointing as was the ravioli. Presentation was poor, the service... More

Located next to the Lucerne hotel, we had a couple of meals here which were delicious. Amazing (thick) wine list with wines from about $40 to $14,000.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
