I have gone Azusa numerous times over the years and it remains consistent. It is a good value for dining in midtown. The lunch specials are usually a good deal. It is a place where fiends meet for lunch. It is not your typical expense account type of restaurant. That being said they have not updated the decor in a... More

I have eaten a lot of Japanese food and so far, nothing beats Morimoto in Philly. However, Azusa was one of the worst Japanese meals/sushi I have ever had. From what I hear, it was on top of its game years ago--now I can't imagine it going much lower. All cooked food we got was fair to middlin' and the... More

Took an impromptu trip to NYC for a little shopping and a "foodie" adventure. Walking toward GCS on 44th I noticed Azusa and decided I could use a little snack! Had a nice bottle of sake and 4 or 5 different types of sushi. Very knowledgeable staff, and top quality ingredients. Will definitely try for dinner on next trip.

Azusa of Japan is a great little hidden gem on 44th street. I offten go there for their lunch specials which change everyday but usually include a piece of Japanese style fried chicken, soup, salad and sushi/sashimi option. HIGHLY recommend the Wasabi Pork Dumplings - unbelievably good and pack a very strong punch (these are usually on the dinner menu... More

Been here twice and both times did not have a good experience. The service is not particularly good, sometimes rushed (i suppose I cannot expect good service during lunch rush hour). The food itself is so-so. There are several authentic Japanese around the area so I probably will not visit again anytime soon.

(+)'s: High quality Japanese food in Midtown. It's amazing how those guys can make a simple cucumber hand roll so tasty. Nice settings. Private traditional seat-on-the floor rooms for large groups. Good service. Reasonable prices. (-)'s: Weird closing hours: 12-2:30 / 5:30-9:45.

This feels very authentic (as if it has been there for decades!). Really good food - we had sashimi and sushi - in a typical Japanese atmosphere. Good value

I just walked around 5th av in New York and found this restaurant. The restaurant is 2 floors. The sushi is good enough finding outside Japan. I ordered Moguro and Salmon. The tempura was so so. My wife order cold noodle which was nice. We ordered the miso soup as well. The taste in overall was OK. But after done... More
