I love this place. The staff were attentive and really helpful and friendly. We had some happy hour beers and listened to a bit of live music on a Thursday evening. Bits of free tapas came out for us to pick at with our beers. Good selection of Spanish wines and largers. I could have been in Barcelona if it... More

This is a reincarnation of the El Cid which was on the far west side at 15th street for many years. I was told the chef from the original still did the cooking, but the place has lost its cool. The old crowded bar with a few tables had a kind of grungy charm and authenticity that has been lost... More

Best Spanish Tapas we have had outside of Barcelona. The food is consistently amazing and the staff is extremely attentive. One of our favorite restaurants off all time. Have never been disappointed by a meal. Had Lobster tapas this valentines day and asked the chef to surprise us in how it is prepared. He broiled it in this amazing garlic... More

We showed up at the tail end of a lengthy happy hour ( lasts until 8!). Had the Gambas al Ajillo ( shrimp with garlic oil) and received a complimentary tapa. Olives! Great start! Had a couple $5 glasses of wine before the beautiful bartender, Jaisa, asked if we wanted to try a drink she invented. Well, phenomenal! "Cinchata" is... More

I have eaten at superb Tapas restaurants throughout the US, UK and even in Vancouver, Canada. One of these days I hope to get to Spain and they this cuisine in it's birthplace. We were in NY city this past week and Chelsea market was just too busy, so we set off looking for a place for lunch. We found El... More

food ok, nothing special. I went there with a friend of mine... they included 20% gratuity and did not bring the change back to our table. I had to ask for it. I won't be back!

El Cid is a charming Spanish restaurant in the Chelsea section of Manhattan with a true Spanish feel to it. The tapas are varied and for the most part, very good indeed. The paella is also tasty, and happily, El Cid avoids throwing on too much salt on their paella the way some other restaurants do. The service is friendly... More

There are many tapas restaurants in the Chelsea area and we have eaten in all of them ,this is by far the worst ,the old El Cid was lots better, This place has the same plastic covered menus every day dull and uninteresting with so much competition they are going to have to try a lot harder ,usually mostly empty,understandably... I used to go to their 'rustic hole in the wall' location on 15th street. This time around, they re-opened on 8th avenue closer to 19th street. We just needed half an hour to relax and decided to sit at the bar and ordered their delicious red sangria. An hour and 4 glasses later with a company of baby squid... More
