good food at reasonable prices is something not often found in NYC. Portion sizes were above what I expected which is also against the norm for the market. more

Having researched all great New York pizzerias, we headed to Otto based on Batali's stellar reputation, and a recent Wine Spectator spread on good pizza in the US. Unfortunately, we were severely underwhelmed by the experience. We ordered two Margherita pizzas, which is our gold standard: that's simply tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and basil. The pizza was extremely disappointing: the... more

This place is perfect for vegetarians -- lots of 'vedure' and veggie pizzas. I've been twice in the past 6 months and both times the food was outstanding. The place gets crowded, so get there early, get your name in and stand at the bar with some drinks. It's an odd system (with city names used for your party's name),... more

We visited Otto twice over the past month. The food was extremely well priced for the quality and location. Three appetizers and entrees spilt three ways provided a great range of taste. Quality ingredients and preparation throughout. Service was good, though a bit aloof on our first go round. On our second visit (6/20/09), service was a major issue. A... more

I've always enjoyed watching Mario Batali on the Food Network but never knew whether or not I'd like his food. Well, I'm here to tell you it is bar none the best food I've ever had. Even a simple pizza place like Otto is elegant and tasteful. From the aperitif to dessert, everything was a new sensation and taste for... more

Two New Yorkers independently recommended Otto to my friend and I, so we had to check it out. The pros: an extensive wine list and the carafe of wine that comes is enough for almost two glasses - exactly the right amount for a meal. The prices are extremely reasonable - we were actually a little shocked at how low... more

Make a reservation!!! Ours were for 10pm on a Sunday night (via Open Table) and the place was PACKED. We were seated immediately, which was great. The tables in the back are pretty close together, more roomier towards the front of the restaurant - good tables for groups. We had the romaine salad (excellent), the arugula/tomato salad (tomatoes were so... more

They deserve a big thumbs up for their extensive wine menu. We had 4 antipasti dishes & a selection of 3 cheeses, which were all very good and reasonably priced. The down side was, their pepperoni pizza was very dry, spaghetti carbonara extremely salty, and linguine with mussels nothing special. I would recommend this place only for wine, cheese and... more
