Terrific Ambiance!

We were on our annual vacation to New York to see our daughter who decided to treat us at the famous Otto Pizzeria run by the renown Mario Balali. We visited on a Saturday evening and the place was bursting at its seems at 10pm. The ambiance was buzzing and lively. Whilst we waited for our table... read more

Went with the family, kids had the pizza which was not bad, but there are 20 better places for pizza in NYC, I'm not exagerating...and 5 with in walking distance that are WAY better... That said, this place is amazing! Had the burrata as an appetizer which I could have had 3 plates of....The mozzarella is creamy beyond anything I've... More

Although it has been a few years, my last visits to Otto were terrific. This time, not so much. The pizza crust was soggy in the middle and the toppings, although they sounded great, were nothing special. The red sauce on the ravioli was akin to tomato paste. Not going to return.

I wanted to try one of Batali's restaurants and this one he owns with Joe Bastianich. We were super late with our reservations and they were very accommodating. The hostess was friendly and efficient. I can't say anything negative about the food. It was good. Everyone with me either had a pizza or pasta and no one complained. Was it... More

The food was amazing. We had a cheese plate that included truffle honey, cherries and spicy apricots. It was incredibly delicious. Truly a must try. I shared pasta with a friend. It was al Dante and cooked perfectly. The portions were a little small. The restaurant was decorated nicely but it was so loud. I found myself having to yell... More

we have been to Otto on many occasion, and every time we visit Greenwich Village in NYC we wind up going back. The food is first rate and the staff is friendly knowledgable and fast. We shared the chopped salad, the pizza special with sausage and peppers and the pasta dish with fusilli sausage and spinach. We enjoyed everything. We... More

Well folks. We had high hopes but.... Very nice wine list and seems like a fancy little Greenwich village sort of bistro. Great atmosphere. But, the pizza fell short. It really was not very good at all for the money. Trust me, take a trip to Little Italy area and just find a small joit to pull up into. You... More

This restaurant was mentioned by a friend, and it happened to be near our hotel, so we went in for dinner. It was late (about 9:30) and we were hungry after a long day of traveling. We were immediately seated, and they brought bread and water the second we sat down. Our server was VERY friendly and had great recommendations.... More

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
