Great breakfast!

My associate (friend) and I were walking down Sixth Avenue looking for a place to have a late morning breakfast. We decided to try this French Roast. Since it was a beautiful day we sat in their out door (sidewalk)area. I had the three eggs (over medium) with very crisp bacon and whole wheat... read more

The restaurant itself is really nice and cosy, with lighting that resembles as if you were dining under candle lights and the service was really good too however the food isn't that great, in fact not good at all. I order the french roast burger and it looked nice but had no flavor at all, even the meat lacked of... More

The service was much faster than I expected and their coffee was just the way I like it. Impressive decor... old Art Deco European signage. Loved this meal

I met and old friend for lunch and we had a lovely time. No one rushed us out, the service was terrific and the food was delicious. I like this French Roast so much better than the uptown one. It's not as crowded and it's much quieter inside. Overall, it was wonderful and I will return.

Went there for late night dinner, and was very happy with the quality of food for 2AM! Was so happy I decided to go back for brunch the next day and it was just as great. Reasonably priced too!

We came in here to have breakfast and coffee. We initially were looking for a place to sit and use the internet and French roast was ideal. The Croque Madame was very good and creamy. I really enjoyed it. I also had the carrot cake which was just ok... Internet is free and staff is very friendly.

We were recommended to French Roast in the neighbourhood where we were staying and it became our go-to place for a great breakfast or brunch. Coffee really good and yummy french toast & berries for breakfast. We loved sitting in the window watching New Yorkers go by and planning what we would do for the day. Lovely wait staff and... More

French Roast is one of my go-to places whenever I am in this part of the City. It is an attractive french style coffee house, but so much more. Excellent booze, very good food (Including French classics and pastries), fine responsive and friendly service and terrific coffee. What's not to like? Oh yes...a fun bar as well. Hey, you are... Everything was good, nice staff, decent menu options, a little overpriced for the sizes and what you get but overall nice.

Had dinner here on our first night in the States. I've been before for coffee, never dinner. I had chicken which was fine but my wife's mussels were pretty bad - old, tough, unappealing. Could do better!

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
