Inexpensive but really good

I love this restaurant and feel it is an unknown gem! I have never had trouble getting a reservation or a table, even when I have walked in. The atmosphere is pleasant and the wait staff is very nice. But what keeps me coming back is the food. They have a vegetable antipasti plate that I simply... read more

This used to be my favorite restaurant. (You can see how much I loved it in my January 15, 2015 review.) But I don't know what has happened!! I eat here a few times a week, and the last five or six times service has been horrendous. The first time, we told them in no uncertain terms that my boyfriend... More

This is in many ways a typical neighborhood Italian restaurant. The food is fine but hardly imaginative. The prices aren't low but this is Manhattan after all. And the atmosphere is warm and friendly. What stops it from getting a satisfactory rating is the terrible service. On the night we were there we waited endlessly for our appetizers and then... More

We had a wonderful 4 day stay in the upper West Side recently. It was our old home in the 60's, so getting back there is always a treat. We were there to attend a 'friends and family' dinner for Tavern on The Green one day prior to it's reopening. Pesce Pasta was our evening out the day after that... More

This was the second time we tried this welcoming neighborhood place and we liked it just as much as the first time we went there. The service is very attentive and the main courses very satisfying. The chicken parmeggiano was delicious, as was the grilled fish platter. The menu does not list it, but they do serve house wine by... More

The prime recommendations for this place were that it was a short walk from our rental apartment and open on Sunday night. The food was quite good! I loved my vegetarian antipasto, with items I could choose (under the waiter’s supervision) from the front table. They filled a dinner plate! My risotto ai frutti di mare was also excellent and... We were staying in a nearby VRBO apartment and the owners recommended this little place. Friends from New Jersey joined us at 7 PM for dinner and we were pleasantly surprised with the food, the prices and the service. The antipasti, the fish, the pasta, the veal parmesan, the chicken marsala were all excellent. Not mass produced, but made by... More

That was the first thing my wife said after we left the place. The food was excellent and fresh. The service was wonderful. The house Chianti was good. If you are looking for an experience similar to a small neighborhood place in an Italian city or town, come here. The decor was interesting ... plenty of it. We didn't sample... More

We've eaten here several times in the last month and each time left satisfied and full. The place is generously set out with plenty of room for diners. There is a very good antipasti selection available at all times and the fish and seafood dishes we tried were uniformly good. My wife had a perfectly cooked whole fish tonight (you... More
