Good Choice for Japanese Food

Recommended by the concierge at the Waldorf as a great spot for sushi on the way to the theatre. Great welcome by staff. Attentive service. I ordered two rolls and miso with a small salad. Miso and salad were average. Spider roll was ok, a little too loosely rolled for me. The rainbow roll was practically inedible. I smelled the... More

The foods were very creative and used fresh vegetables. Nigiri sushi was fresh and great. The restaurant was elegant and clean. All staff were friendly and professional. If you really want to experience real Japanese, this is the one.

Was actually looking for a different restaurant, but walked by this one and was very pleased. Fast service and food was good.

What a great sushi spot midtown! They recently had a management change (end of 2013) but I was never here under the old management so I can't compare anything. I just know I loved it tonight :) I just got back in the country last week after almost two months abroad and couldn't WAIT for some amazing sushi... I asked... More

The poor service issue is systemic, not the servers. Bad process and or training. The food was just OK - I would pass. The outside seating is casual. I normally look for good in every review. Tough to find here.

For only the 2nd time in my life, I walked out without ordering because the service was so atrociously bad. I waited 5 minutes to be seated (I was seen, but ignored by the staff). I was then seated (in an empty dining room) with no apologies and a couple of dirty menus were thrown at me. There were flies... More

We went to Shinbashi b/c it was rated high by Tripadvisor. We had lunch sushi which came with miso soup and salad that was not so fresh. The quality of sushi was excellent, and knowing the same set at Hatsuhana is $ 22, $ 17.25 was reasonable. This place reminds me of sushi restaurants in Ginza - fashionable and attentive... More

Our hotel concierge recommended this restaurant to us. We almost turned around after entering because it was so empty on a Saturday night. I'm so glad we didn't. The food and service were excellent. I went there with my husband, kids, and mom (who, by the way was born and raised in Japan). We all loved it. Hiroko was an... More

I know we were in NYC, so everything was expensive. We ate good quality of seafood and also got good services, but I felt a little more expensive than we expected.

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
