Great Food, Great Wine, Friendly Service.

Chez Jacqueline at 72 MacDougal St, in New York City's Greenwich Village is a charming French bistro with relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. The salads are very good and the trout almondine is exceptional. The cheese plate is small (three different cheeses) but very good.

My wife and I ate at Chez Jacqueline this past Saturday evening and we've frankly got mixed feelings. The restaurant is a cozy little place that was only somewhat busy at 6:30 (less than half full) though, interestingly, all the seats at the bar appeared to have have been taken. By 7:30 the entire restaurant was full and lively, with... More

This west village institution is serving up authentic french cuisine in a relaxing and intimate atmosphere. The service was good and dessert fantastic. I cannot wait to go back. I had the beef stew; it melted in my mouth!

This restaurant was absolutely excellent! My mother and I came here, last night around 9:30, and were treated like we were the only two people in the place! Excellent service, food, music (Live piano music), and a comfortable atmosphere. Although it might be pricey for some, it is well worth it. The waiters are very attentive. For great french food,... Decided to make use of a groupon and wanted to have a decent meal in the city. When we got there there was nobody at the door to receive us. Guy at the bar looked at us for 3 secs and resumed his business behind the bar without even at least greeting us and asking us to wait for the... More

I was impressed with this restaurant the first time I visited some months because of the ambiance, service, ok food and great groupon deal. They have hired extra help and ruined the ambiance and service, leaving only the ok food. Now's it's not worth the visit. The service staff is now so far from French or even serviceable, it's such... A Groupon introduction on a cold winter's night has us already planning a return in the springtime. This charming old building in the Village was ablaze in sparkling tiny white lights when we arrived. The ambience was lovely with soft lighting, old wood and a comfortable 'buzz' noise level even when it got crowded later. The young waiter (a friend... More

We had gone to this resturant a couple of years ago with a Groupon and got another Groupon Two Three courses and a bottle of wine we both started with Mussels which were Delish then one had the Steak and frites black angus sirloin with great Bearnaise Sauce and the other had The Black Linquino with mixed seafood which both... We ate at Chez Jacqueline on New Year's Eve. The food was excellent, we could have been in France. Pappardelle with bolognese sauce was delicious - the meat sauce had been cooked with herbs and had a complex, mature flavour. There were a lot of French classics on the menu, a celeriac salad that was perfect. My partner had mussels... More

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
