Nice Italian Food

Went to Little Italy for dinner. Was an unusually warm November evening. Ate on table by the sidewalk. I thought food was not bad and fairly priced, although some items were expensive for what they were. I had nice pasta with shrimp, tomatoes and olives. Others had veal, salmon or gnocchi. They... read more

No napkins..candle not lit (other tables were) also missing fork. Asked waiter and they bring over paper napkins. Not the ones others had. 3 of us ordered drinks i ordered diet... More

On Thursday Oct. 22 my female friend and I went down to NYC. We were there for a 2 night holiday and decided to go to Little Italy for a nice Italian meal. We decided on Taormina on Mulberry Street, for no special reason. Joe (the owner?) sat us down outside and proceeded to lay on the charm. Jokes (some... More

My husband and I were really looking forward to enjoying an authentic Italian meal in Little Italy. A young lady at the christmas store down the road recommended it (we asked for a recommendation since there were so many restaurants to choose from). We shared an antipasto platter - the marinated peppers had fermented, we got ham instead of salami,... More

My husband and I ate earlier in the week at Umbertos Clam restaurant. The food was nice but the owner a bit manic! We decided to try again and ate here, so pleased we did! The front of house was a funny guy, we sat outside which was a real bonus, we had nice bread with olive oil, I had... More

If you want a loud maitre d and a bad waiter with an automatic 18% tip this is your place. Waiter was pushy, messed up our order and never came back to ask how our meal was. Brutal! The young Latino who took care of the table was the best part of the experience. As Dionne Warwick sang, Just walk... More

I am terribly disappointed with the quality, service, and experience. Had a guest and we went with all family. What a disappointing experience, the service was lousy, the food was far from being fresh, the staff was simply a disaster, they were fighting with each other. Twice I changed glasses because they were dirty. The kitchen was wide open and... More

Had dinner at the restaurant last Sunday night. Sat outside and enjoyed watching the people roam by while eating very decent Italian food. The staff was attentive, the advice given for a bottle of wine was spot on and the food presentation was amazing. Great little gem in the heart of Little Italy.

The food and atmosphere was great. We sat on the sidewalk and were serenaded by old school Italian music. The Maitre D was very friendly and made the night even better. saltimbocca alla romnana was very good

Best gnocchi I've ever had. Firm and tender, creamy almost. Lemon butter sauce was great as was the veal. Added bonus was the show...there are guys working the crowds for guest all over Mulberry. Giuseppe was fantastic to watch. I'd come back for sure.

Thank Charlie S

Staying in Little Italy

Neighborhood Profile
Little Italy
While Little Italy is one of the city's smallest neighbourhoods, its streets are packed with visitors from around the globe, especially on summer weekends when the streets are closed to traffic. Stroll up Mulberry Street, the heart of Little Italy, for a dense mix of Italian restaurants with sidewalk tables, cafes, and old-school food shops. Don’t be surprised when the hosts beckon you to pay them a visit. Stop in for a coffee and a cannoli, or grab a streetside table to take in the scenery over a hearty Italian meal.
