Decent lunch place

The Coffee Shop was pleasant surprise on the Union Square. We went there for light lunch and picked the place totally random. It has a vibe of old fashion diner place and it's surprisingly large. Rest rooms throw you back to 80's, and they even have phone booths! When it comes to food, it was... read more

Saw this place walking back to our hotel last night and decided to try brunch this AM. Very typical NYC diner feel. Good coffee to start. I had the short rib tostada. It was amazing. The guacamole was the highlight. Eggs were cooked perfectly. My wife and son enjoyed the French toast. It's a busy place which is always a... More

A colleague and I dined here for lunch the other day. We both had the skirt steak quesadilla and mimosas and I must say, it was surprisingly delicious! I wouldn't normally eat here unless it was the only place open - just because I know they're better quality places to eat in Union Square.

Good java, fresh green juice, delish plates of updated classic coffee shop fare - updated with more flavour, etc. . Classic diner vibe, with a patio!

During the day it is a great place to watch the goings on at Union Square. Enjoyed an after midnight meal on the patio in the cool night air. The server was attentive, the view great and the food was very good.

We came here to stop by and have a quick bite to eat. We have eaten here before and the food is pretty good. We already knew what to order so we gave to the waitress. it took her 30 minutes to just bring us our drinks. Food arrived 15 minutes after that. We did not see the waitress for... More

so many times revisiting old haunts disappoints, but not this time. If not as full of exotic hipsters as it once was, this 23 hours per day joint enjoys one of the greatest people watching venues in town...especially for lunch on the fresh market Union Square day. sit outside and watch a parade of great looking New Yorker strut their... Classic indoor diner seating, nice outdoor seating area. Good but not extensive breakfast menu - nice fruit/veggie juices. Server rather indifferent - couldn't find her initially to be seated outside (inside hostess told me to go back outside to wait for "someone out there" to seat me. Turned out the "someone" was standing on sidewalk down the street talking to... More

I know this place is an institution but we went in with no expectations and were pleased . We were seated promptly, even on a busy Sunday, and our waitress was friendly and professional. Very sweet. We all enjoyed our meal. Live music was being set up as we left. If I was a local I would return, but I... More

Before we officially booked our plans to the city I was looking around for coffee shops and came across this one. When we first arrived I was like okay this fine. Then we were seated and as I was looking at the time place and out the window was really pleased. The staff there was great. The food was prompt... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
