Recommended to us as the best pizza in NYC. May be an ambitious claim but there was a queue and we waited. It was great. Bit grungy along with graffiti benches to sit on but the pizza was great. I d let them decide on the toppings as they were eager to help and I guess they know pizza. There... read more

First of all, as an american tradition we waited in a queue for nothing. Because there were lots of available tables in restaurant. After a table could be arranged, we ordered our pizza. Once it was served, we realized that we found the best pizza of our life time with my wife. It was a great taste, we recommend John's... More

This place was recommended by a tour guide and because we were with kids we figured they would enjoy it and THEY DID. But they're kids and the adults all agreed it was just ok. Nice atmosphere with lots of history. We followed up with lots of walking in Greenwich village and then on to china town and little Italy

We were on a quest for the best pizza in NYC and read several reviews of John's on bleeker street. We went for dinner and while the pizza was good we left disappointed. The pizzeria is a pretty cool hole in the wall, only accepts cash and has a very limited menu. The dinner salad was a waste of money... More

Great New York pizza in a casual atmosphere in Greenwich Village. I stumbled upon this place about 10 years ago upon my first visit with my sister. My mom and I needed to have lunch and we had just left the 9/11 memorial. The snow was coming down hard, and we grabbed a cab and headed straight to John's Pizzeria.... More

We visited here after seeing it in a listing of top pizza places in NYC; we visited here in February and had to walk in snow to get there... Walking in snow was well worth it! We found the pizza here amazing; it was traditional style pizza with amazing taste I can't wait to visit NYC and have again! Def... More

FIrst of all....NO SLICES. I REPEAT....NO SLICES. John's had been recommended by two different couples when ask for NY recommendations, and the only pizza place, so on our trip to Greenwich, we wanted to make a point of stopping. We were slice hungry, but decided to play their way and go in anyway. My husband was a huge fan and... More

Very limited menu. Pizza tasted incredibly fresh. It was flavorful. Service was inattentive but friendly. Had to ask twice for napkins. Had to ask for a box...had to ask for the check. It's a cash only place, but of course they have an atm outside (nice way to make $$$).

Myself and my partner went in for a large sharing pizza. The large was more than enough for the two of size wise and was very tasty. All of the pizzas are cooked in a pizza oven and are hand stretched by the chef. The food was quick, but once we were finished eating we were not rushed out. Would... More

Great thin pizza, place looks bad, service is ok, but the pizza is nice. Ita not my best pizza but it was fresh made and tasted great, so its a good idea to take a pizza at Johns.

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
