Best pizza I have ever had, and I just traveled to Italy!! Was perfect. Wouldn't know it by looking at it, it is nothing fancy at all, but for amazing pizza it's where to go.

Pay attention competition: A good reason this place has been in business for so many years. No messing around. The pizza is prepared perfectly on a brick oven and served faster than expected. Love the rules of nobody sits until everyone is there; no slices; no credit cards. Just plain good service and delicious pizza. Note: We're from CO and... More

I have been coming to this location for 25 years now and Pete used to wait on us when first started coming. Same place but bigger now and the same great pizza. I always order a salad then a pizza with a side of ricotta cheese and fresh chopped garlic. I love this place and wish I could eat it... More

A typical New York icon, I have been eating pizza here for over 25 years. Always consistent, good pizza, a rather thin crust, good quality toppings and a great West Village atmosphere. Some days maybe too crowded with out of towners, but hey, that's what you get when New York has become now also the World Capital of Tourism.

Read about this place in Time so had to check out whether the pizza was 'the best in NYC'. Well quality, size and taste - lovely food. The place is no frills, authentic and an open kitchen but the waiters were more interested in fixing the air conditioning than serving us. We were given almost blunt knives so it was... More

A friend took us to John's on a recent visit to NYC. There was a very short wait but well worth it! The service was quick. We had salad (one is big enough for 2 or 3 people), and 2 pies one cheese and one with sausage, pepperoni & mushroom. It comes with thin crust and it was so very... More

Few places make crispy, thin crust pizza correctly. It's too thin or too thick, not burnt enough or it looks like charcoal. John's does it exactly correct. Had to ask for it this way (see pic) but it's exactly as I wanted it. Was obviously too hit to just bite into immediately. Must let it cool.

This is the hottest pizza I have eaten – the oven must be over some kind of molten lava – so hot I burnt a whole layer of skin on the roof of my mouth – it was completely numb and took a good couple of days to properly heal – my own fault I suppose for being too eager... More

... bathroom is well below western standards! Pizza is very tasty. Lots of possibilities to personalize your own pizza. Service is ok. Place always crowded. Price a little above expectations, but at the end of the day is NY. Pizza recommended. But please improve higiene in the restrooms!

Johns is a hole in the wall with 9 booths and four tables. We came after touring the 9/11 museum. Two things: RC COLA and get a table. The booths are horribly uncomfortable.
