Worth the walk!

We read in our hotel concierge guide book that this was the best pizza in the world so we had to try it. It was a bit farther walk from the corner of Bleeker & Broadway than we thought but worth it. Delicious pizza and cooked fast. Thin crust with lots of fresh toppings. Quaint, rustic sitting... read more

The best pizza in Manhattan and the most-down home staff (free t-shirts once they like ya :)! As a kid I was weaned on those big fat cheesy strip-mall slices that are sold individually across the rest of America, with red sauce like wallpaper paste and that collapse when you try to hold them up. What did I know?... When... More

Every time I travel to NYC I have to go to John's on Bleeker. You should too. It's a must! When you do make sure to order the sliced meatball as a topping. Another must!

My brother, a New Yorker, warned me to stay away from John's on Bleeker Street. We've eaten at the restaurant in the theatre district several times and enjoyed it. Well, my brother was right. The pizza arrived burned to a crisp and the 2nd pass was little better. The pizza has very little taste - the sauce is thin and... More

Call me a pizza snob but if it isn't thin and crisp, if it is limp when you pick it up, and if it has too much of ANYTHING,it is not good pizza! John's does it right. Period. The sauce is terrific, the cheese is good quality mozzarella,( not that horrid " pizza cheese" mix of god-knows-what ), and the... More

John's has been on Bleecker Street for more than half a century and there still is sometimes a line to get in -- for good reason. Note: Only whole pies are available, NO slices. The pizzas sport only very fresh ingredients, and the crusts are delicious. Also try the other Italian dishes on the menu.

Amazing pizza with fresh toppings. Thin crust with just enough spice and they get little burn patches with is attributed to the coal fire cooking. No two pizzas tastes exactly the same but they are all fantastic to eat!

We called in late night after going to the theatre. We wanted to eat something simple and reasonably quickly. This is not a place to spend an evening - a basic interior with tables and booths, most of the business is probably takeaway. But the thin-crust pizzas are superb, the salad good, and the Goose Island beer went with it... More

Best pizza I can remember eating for a long time. The sausage was exceptional. Lucky not to have to queue. Very atmospheric.

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
