I'm not much of a cook and don't buy raw meat, so no opinion about the butcher shop aspect of this place. Their hero sandwiches are made with delicious cooked meats on good Italian bread. I particularly recommend the Italian Special with roasted red peppers. It's pricey but you get decent value for quantity and quality.

Like many others came on the ratings on Tripadvisor. This will not disappoint. We ordered two Italian Specials and one smoked pork with sundried tomatoes. Warning: these sandwiches are HUGE but delicious. Easily two could share one hero - unless you really come with a big appetite!

I have lived in Greenwich Village all my life and I am 100% Italian American: I know Italian food. This place is just amazing. I get tears in my eyes just thinking about it. You want sausage, chicken, steaks, pasta, prepared food, heros, mozz, bread, tomato sauce, etc..THIS IS THE PLACE. You will be overwhelmed by the quality. Don't be... More

Simply the best. They also have a location in Brooklyn. Highest quality. Once you try the homemade sopprasotta you will never want the processed stuff again. The worst question the counter men can ask you is "what else? " because they have so many good things you just can't stop ordering. Their rice balls are insane.

A little bit off the beaten track but worth seeking it out as you get to explore Greenwich Village at the same time. Faicco's a delish little Italian deli with gorgeous Italian meats and treats. Yummo!

We discovered Faicco's Italian deli part way through our stay in Greenwich Village - fantastic! We had two "heros" - one with mozzarella, tomatoes and dried tomatoes,, basil etc and the other included chicken, dried tomatoes and spinach. Hugely generous fillings - one sandwich definitely enough for two, three or even four, depending how hungry you all are. Couldn't recommend... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
