Excellent Steak

I had the petit filet which was only 5 ounces but more than enough food. Since the hotel, is attached to the Waldorf-Astoria, I tried the Waldorf Salad (invented there) as well. Phenominal wine list with few things on the menu (Opus One) that I didn't expect and it was delicous.

My wife and I were so looking forward to a grand valentines dinner at this landmark establishment. However we were sadly disappointed. The food was just fine, steaks perfectly cooked etc., it was mainly a very low staffing problem. We only saw 2 people the entire time, our waiter and a busboy. Being Valentines eve you would think they would... More

Dear RobertBreedlove, Thank you for your candid feedback about your Valentine's Day experience at our Bull & Bear restaurant. So to be brutally honest, if it wasn't for the fact there was a blizzard outside we wouldn't have gone (I was with my wife). We were staying in the Waldorf for a treat and as a seasoned traveler, I rarely eat in hotel restaurants (typically over priced and over rated). Second I try to select places with a rating... More

Dear Mark, I cannot tell you how much of a treat it is to read that the steak you tried here was the best you have ever had, in your words. That is something we will never get tired of hearing, especially since we were battling the reputation of "hotel restaurant" in your case from the get-go! From our romantic... More

Great food and a classic setting. The Waldorf salad was alot better than expected, better than any I have had before, which you expect at the birthpace of the salad. The five stars are for the Maine lobster (my dish-superb) and the steak my husband had which he described as the best he has ever had. Attentive service was also... More

We booked this after seeing good reviews, however our 8:30 table was delayed until 9:15. We were ignored multiple times at the bar after being told to have a drink while we waited. Finally got seated in what appeared to be a pretty empty restaurant were we were greeted by a not so friendly waiter and felt very pressured for... More

Recommend stopping here for a drink! Great bar scene and reminds me of "Old New York" with the dark wood interior. Service was outstanding and staff was friendly. Would come back here for dinner the next time we are in town.

My husband and I are staying at the hotel for the week and, after our original plans fell through we decided to celebrate our anniversary at the hotel's steakhouse. Without having a reservation we did not expect a table and were happy to sit at the bar. There were three bartenders working, yet not a single one acknowledged our presence... More

Although the service was pretty good, what they were serving was an embarrassment to the Waldorf and the guests. At those prices, it isn't too much to expect hot food, tasty salads, edible chicken, etc. And I had no such things! The Waldorf-Astoria has really slipped.

Dear Hal013, It is difficult to read your review, as the experience you describe is so far from our standard. This is not something that we take lightly,... More

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
