Great food and ambiance but...

Firstly the good points, the 35 day aged Steak is superb as is the general ambiance of this restaurant. However at $550 (not including wine) for four people my expectations are very high. The service would have been ok at a lower end establishment but at this level I would expect it to be perfect... read more

This landmark steakhouse is still as good as it was 10 years ago. Appetizers, entree and dessert were all perfect and bar service great too.

Located in the Waldorf Astoria there is some real history here but unfortunately this restaurant is poor by comparison with the rest of the Astoria's offering. Steak tough, staff eating food at the back and not really listening to customers orders and not sticking to the dress code - shorts allowed in

My partner and I were in NY from the UK to celebrate my 40th Birthday on July 4th. We visited the Bull & Bear on Sunday July 5th. We had chosen this restaurant as the Waldorf Astoria held nostalgic memories of relatives that had visited many years ago. We booked our table in advance back in the UK using OpenTable.... More

Service that was second to none but a tad expensive. Had a sense of history. Staff were friendly and helpful and happy to make something for you even if it wasn't on the menu. We hesitated to try the Waldorf's in-house restaurant because they are seldom better than mediocre but the Bull & Bear was outstanding. We had the chateaubriand and it was the best we'd ever had. Excellent meal, menu, wine list.

I invited my family to celebrate my birthday here. There was nothing to complain about: out steaks and side dishes were tasty, service was good, as well as the atmosphere in general. Dear Karolina B Thank you for noting the excellence of our Red Velvet Cake. That dessert originated at the Waldorf Astoria. We’ve modified it over the years as beet juice now provides the coloring, but it is ours! We still, unlike so many hotels, have our own pastry kitchen. Bull and Bear is most fortunate to have that as a... More

My girlfriend and I had dinner here during a recent stay at the Waldorf Towers. I had a filet while my girlfriend enjoyed the swordfish. Both were excellent, but the swordfish was some of the best I've ever had. Looking forward to our next stay at the hotel so that we can enjoy Bull & Bear again.

Dear Benmiller321 Thanks so much for the recognition of our swordfish. Midtown is well aware of our great steaks but sometimes I suspect our seafood goes underappreciated. Thank you for calling this out. Safe Travels, Gilbert Bolivar Bull and Bear Manager More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
