It was my first time trying Afghan food. I can't comment on how authentic it is but everything I ordered tasted good. Except for the tandoori chicken. It was slightly dry and overcooked. I had Kaboli Polow and was amazing. It came with a side of salad. I also ordered Dough as a drink which is a yogurt based drink... More

Recently tried Ariana for lunch with relatives visiting from overseas. Hadn’t tried Afghan cuisine before so it seemed like an adventure. The restaurant is small but pleasantly decorated and clean. The host was attentive, chatty and evidently took great pride in his Afghan culture and cuisine. I found prices reasonable and lunch specials offer a good value. The food isn’t... More

My brother in law was in NYC on business so my wife and I met up with him. None of us had afghan food in a while, so we looked up what restaurants were nearby. We found Ariana and it looked pleasing. Our server was very friendly and conversational. The food was outstanding. Really good dishes. I especially liked the... More

Loved the food and the service. Try the lamb kofta, and the beef tikka kebab. The best food I have tried in New York. A must do when in NYC!

small place but host was very hospitable - did not have anything to exciting just tandoori chicken - it was not very good too dry and bread was not hot a little hard - but maybe it was because it was at 10 at night and they closed at 10:30 but still not to happy with food

We were in NYC last week for my wife's birthday and as is usual search Tripadvisor for something different and good. We settled on Ariana based on location, price and that it was a neighborhood not tourist restaurant. I called for a reservation for 5 and this very small place made sure everything was ready when we arrived. We enjoyed... More

The place may be small, but the service and the attention to the customers were excellent. The menu was as good as I have had in the sub content. The Bolanee apetizers, especially the pumpkin one, and the Baudinjan Buranee (fried egg plant) were excellent starters and set the stage for even better entrées. The Kabuli kebabs and the Afghani... The food here is totally fab. We ordered a carafe of the house red and white wines, both were great. We started with the samosa and tried each of the three sauces with them. The green was the spiciest, but still manageable. The red with the peppers was super yummy. For the main, I ordered the Kabuli Palow with Kofta... More
