Great Afghan comfort food

My wife and two friends ate here and had a great time. We shared the Dumplings with meat sauce, the Aushak Manto, Lamb kofta kebab, and the Sultani-kebab – all were fantastic. For desert, we shared had the Sheer Yakh – again, amazing. The service was fast and enthusiastic. Highly recommended!

On the suggestion of a good friend, we decided to have a bite to eat before a movie. We were greeted by a very enthusiastic server, who was able to explain all the nuances of the menu. He recommended the Pulaw, which is rice pilaf with carrots, almonds, and raisins under first rate cubed chicken. The serving was perfectly sized,... More

Looking to grab an ethnic lunch en route to our 2 PM transportation, we walked along Restaurant Row and this caught our attention. Other person is a vegetarian so the fact that half of the dozen or so lunch offerings were vegetarian was very important in choosing this restaurant. Excellent and quick service as well as the $ 10 entree... More

While visiting from rural western NY, we chose this restaurant based only on the fact that it was a cuisine type unavailable in our home town and it proved to be a brilliant choice. This is a remarkably cozy restaurant, with seating for probably only 40 people at the most, and the (we presumed) owner managed the handful of couples... More

Honestly the best hour of my life. The food was great, the atmosphere welcoming, and the service... AMAZING! My friends and I had an absolutely wonderful time and will be CERTAIN to visit anytime we are back in the city. Do yourself a favour and give Ariana's a try! -Joshua (aka Dave)

We had never had Afghan food and wanted to try it through curiosity! We were very well looked after by the genial proprieter who made great recommendations and we tried a wonderful array of dishes. All were great quality and we enjoyed the restaurant immensely. If you want something a little different definitely give it a try.

We were turned on to Afghani food by The Afghan Kabob Palace in Charlottesville, VA (my favorite restaurant, I wish they were on Tripadvisor), so we decided to try Ariana Afghan Kabab on our next trip to NYC. It turns out that the restaurants are related and we could not have been more pleased. The food was delicious, the décor... More

A group of 6 of us visited this restaurant on the advice of Corey from Food on Foot Tours. We went here before going to see a broadway play. Not know much about the place, we made a reservation for 6. We made it for 5pm to allow for lots of time to get to our 7pm show. We arrived... More

This was recommended to us in the food of foot tour. Very cozy and intimate restaurant. Owner was friendly and personable - and the food was excellent. The Lamb Kebab I had was very nicely presented and complemented - and the taste was wonderful. Capped with his suggested beer and a Turkish coffee it was a wonderful meal.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
