Description: Grand Central Oyster Bar is the ultimate experience for any seafood...
Grand Central Oyster Bar is the ultimate experience for any seafood. Lover. From the market to your plate, we've spent nearly a hundred years perfecting our seafood dishes. Every morning, the chef goes to the New Fulton Fish Market to personally pick the day's freshest seafood. Everything from lobster to different kinds of fish is hand-picked for the best flavor and freshness. We're most famous for our oysters though, with over 30 different varieties on any given day. Have your dishes prepared minimally, or choose to have your meal in the form of a po' boy. Whatever floats your boat. To go with your Oysters, our extensive wine list has over 400 wines by the glass or bottle, 55 of which are priced under $38. We love sharing our great seafood, so we like to keep everything, including our prices, accessible. Come in for our Happy Hours (menu on website), where you and your friends can pick up some fresh food and drinks at prices so good it's fishy! Across our restaurant we have more than 450 tables across two dining rooms. Traditional experiences are supplemented by our saloon, which features a large bar. Instead, you could choose to sit at Oyster Bay, where you can watch your Oysters being shucked. The Grand Central Oyster Bar has always been a social experience, bustling with buzz, activity and a rich history. There is truly nowhere else like it!

Worth the visit

This place is a must as it is unique. The food is of a good quality and we were not disappointed but the atmosphere is special. The choice and variety of fish and seafood is immense and the standard high. The batter we had on our fish was light and the service good. It is not romantic or private... read more

Whenever I'm in town I always take a visit to the Grand Central Oyster Bar. It does not dissapoint. The menu describes accurately what you are about to eat. It is served in a New York kind of way...this is how we do it ...hope you like it.we chose lobster, which was delicious. The surrounding tables all looked great. This... More

Went with the family for a great seafood platter for lunch after having visited here over a decade ago. Still the best oysters.

We happened to be in NYC during dutch herring festival and decided to visit Grand Central oyster bar to try both: herring and oysters. The herring was OK, oysters were nothing special: had better ones in many other restaurants in Boston, Chicago and Toronto. The waiter was not very friendly and waiting for the bill was long enough for me... More

We ate here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. I had the Ipswich clam roll while my husband had the seafood chowder. Every bit as good as places I've eaten in New England. For dinner, we ordered a variety of oysters on the half shell - every one fresh, delicious and briny. They were served with various crackers... More

My boyfriend and I went here for Valentine's and I still crave that oyster stew to this day! Loved the atmosphere and walking around Grand Central Station afterwards.

At the start, a confession, we love oysters! We shared a bottle of good champagne and indulged in oysters from a variety of origins. You can compare the flintiness of the east coast with the creaminess of the west coast and then have an exotic adventure with some from New Zealand. Knowledgable servers and great atmosphere made for a really... More

Worth searching for in Grand Central Terminal, this old world resturant offers fresh sea food and a bustling atmosphere. Pricey but worth trying for lunch at least once during your visit.

Excellent selection of oysters and sea food. Ideal for lunch on a hot day. Try several different ones and compare.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
