Description: Grand Central Oyster Bar is the ultimate experience for any seafood...
Grand Central Oyster Bar is the ultimate experience for any seafood. Lover. From the market to your plate, we've spent nearly a hundred years perfecting our seafood dishes. Every morning, the chef goes to the New Fulton Fish Market to personally pick the day's freshest seafood. Everything from lobster to different kinds of fish is hand-picked for the best flavor and freshness. We're most famous for our oysters though, with over 30 different varieties on any given day. Have your dishes prepared minimally, or choose to have your meal in the form of a po' boy. Whatever floats your boat. To go with your Oysters, our extensive wine list has over 400 wines by the glass or bottle, 55 of which are priced under $38. We love sharing our great seafood, so we like to keep everything, including our prices, accessible. Come in for our Happy Hours (menu on website), where you and your friends can pick up some fresh food and drinks at prices so good it's fishy! Across our restaurant we have more than 450 tables across two dining rooms. Traditional experiences are supplemented by our saloon, which features a large bar. Instead, you could choose to sit at Oyster Bay, where you can watch your Oysters being shucked. The Grand Central Oyster Bar has always been a social experience, bustling with buzz, activity and a rich history. There is truly nowhere else like it!

Timeless New York

This is a New York institution. I've found that rather than getting a meal, I'm always just happier with a good drink and some oysters. The last time I went, the air conditioning wasn't working so it was a bit uncomfortable (especially in a seafood restaurant) but the service was great. Make sure... read more

Even on a saturday lunchtime this place was buzzing and you can see why. Despite me not liking oysters, I still had a great time and the food was really good. Add to that a waiter who knew what he was doing and could offer advice and comments on the menu and you have the recipe for a great lunch.

The Oyster Bar in Grand Central is an outstanding place for oysters and seafood. I go there for over 20 years and never was let down.

Went for oysters and a martini and they didn't disappoint on either. Lots of fun for out of towners or locals looking for something very old New York to do~

We came here for a splurgy lunch. It was pricey, but I wanted my husband to see the space (which is very cool). But our fish, was rather plain, ok, but nothing special (especially for the price). Next time, we'll just order a dozen oysters & a glass of wine (maybe Champagne) for a more luxurious snack.

A favourite haunt for the fish lover - with some of the finest shellfish in New York. You don't have to just like Oysters. There are some fine dishes with clams, which are very satisfying. The restaurant oozes the history and charm associated with being part of Grand Central station. Well worth a visit - oh, and don't forget to... More

Somewhere between a 3 and 4 rating for my quick pit stop after getting off the train and waiting to check in down the street. I've been to Grand Central lots of times, but entered the food court from a different direction and decided to eat here. I sat at the counter, had a friendly server and had my sandwich... More

A landmark location, one of the few that have not changed and a must see and visit if in NYC. Gustavino tiles on the ceiling, original wavy counter, those oyster options...fantastic new england clam chowder and every kind of fish you can imagine..fresh as can be. Definitely worthy of a meal even if just lunch at the counter to experience... More

I had heard much about this famous place in the grandiose Grand Central terminal. The decor is indeed very nice and is divided into 3 main sections. if you like us like to sit at the bar don't overlook the fact that there is a 2nd bar in the back which has less live cooking noises & smells than than... Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
