We decided to go have a cocktail here after a friend recommended it to me. It was late Friday afternoon. The boat is very impressive on first sight. It has been restored beautifully. The bar looked very welcoming in so we sat down there. There was a girl trying to keep up making cocktails for the diners orders so her... More

My sister and I came here for the first time (despite visiting grand central dozens and dozens of times growing up!). We've passed by so many times that we had to give it a try. I loved the atmosphere/lighting and the service was prompt. Well priced for quality of food, and was impressed by the daily menu that caters to... More

Somehow this restaurant is very New York City. It was crowded and noisy and with just a little touch of Fawlty Towers (with John Cleese). But the food was great with the oysters and scallops fresh and relatively inexpensive. It is not gourmet dining in the classic sense but perhaps gourmet fast food?

Grand Central Oyster Bar - not only was it filmed in the opening scene of SNL at one time, but it is an ultra cool design, the waitstaff is exceptional and the food is always good. Think Oysters Rockefeller, Clam Chowder, fried oysters, or fresh. Large selection! We chose to eat at what I call the community tables - the... More

We just sat at the bar and had the NE clam chowder and a couple of beers. Great service, tasted delicious and in stunning and atmospheric surroundings. Highly recommended.

I have been a patron of the GC Oyster Bar for 40 years. When I worked in Manhattan I used to gather with editor friends from Forbes, Business Week and Time Magazine on Friday for lunch. Most times it was a lunch that lasted into the late afternoon and sometime ended at another bar or restaurant or jazz club in... More

Went for business lunch on Thurs July 3. Ate in Saloon area that is quiet. Food was decent but expensive. Service was terrible, perfunctory and the waiter was MIA most of the time. Never came back to refill drinks or offer us coffee. A struggle to get the bill. And the maître d just stood there looking at us. Skip... More

My husband and I went to see Grand Central Station and discovered this oyster bar. Its very popular and we sat at the bar and were promptly given some crackers and a glass of water. The waitress was very helpfull and we enjoyed talking to her about the bar. We loved our seafood platter, would love to go back again.

This great restaurant has been open (on and off) since 1913 in the heart of Grand Central Terminal. I visited with my son for lunch in June. We were not disappointed with food which was super fresh and beautifully presented. I had the 'drunken' salmon which was pan-fried and possibly the most tender and succulent salmon I've tasted. My son... More
