Description: Grand Central Oyster Bar is the ultimate experience for any seafood...
Grand Central Oyster Bar is the ultimate experience for any seafood. Lover. From the market to your plate, we've spent nearly a hundred years perfecting our seafood dishes. Every morning, the chef goes to the New Fulton Fish Market to personally pick the day's freshest seafood. Everything from lobster to different kinds of fish is hand-picked for the best flavor and freshness. We're most famous for our oysters though, with over 30 different varieties on any given day. Have your dishes prepared minimally, or choose to have your meal in the form of a po' boy. Whatever floats your boat. To go with your Oysters, our extensive wine list has over 400 wines by the glass or bottle, 55 of which are priced under $38. We love sharing our great seafood, so we like to keep everything, including our prices, accessible. Come in for our Happy Hours (menu on website), where you and your friends can pick up some fresh food and drinks at prices so good it's fishy! Across our restaurant we have more than 450 tables across two dining rooms. Traditional experiences are supplemented by our saloon, which features a large bar. Instead, you could choose to sit at Oyster Bay, where you can watch your Oysters being shucked. The Grand Central Oyster Bar has always been a social experience, bustling with buzz, activity and a rich history. There is truly nowhere else like it!

The menu identifies the state or province the named oysters come from. I prefer to eat East Coast oysters when I am on the East Coast, or West Coast over there. Generally I like East Coast oysters over West Coast. Very different species. Sometimes I have gorged myself - appetizer of raw oysters followed by pan fried oysters. This time... More

Since this place is iconic, I expected it to be too grand for us. Not at all! The counters are casual and your elbows will be touching the elbows of the people next to you. Businessmen and women and tourists, young and old are all crowded in. You can eat very inexpensively. The clam chowder for about $7 is a... More

I would come back, I mean it, but the food isn't great, waiters are not the best at doing their job. The place is noisy and poorly lit. But there's something that tells me I should give it another chance! They should improve the menu's readability... and waiters should be able to help you decide what to order when you... More

Had lunch with several colleagues here after attending a conference in NY and we were disappointed. Yes, it's got history and a neat setting on its side, but the food was very mediocre. I had fried oysters and smoked trout. Both OK but nothing memorable. My colleagues both got a lobster salad and were bored by it. We are from... More

Oh no, this breaks our heart! Mediocrity is definitely not what we're aspiring to, and we hate that you left thinking this. We understand that our restaurant may seem a little pricey, but we like to think we're a great value for the money when you take into consideration what you're paying for. We are glad, however, that you enjoyed... More

After refusing to eat oysters his entire life, my husband succumbed to peer pressure last year and tried them, and now LOVES them. So when he suggested meeting at Grand Central for dinner on a frigid day, I agreed to take the train in from Westchester. Unfortunately, I think I might rather have eaten at the nearby Shake Shack instead!... More

We're really sorry to hear you feel that way, Michele. There is no excuse for rude service, and we understand how frustrating that must have been for you -- we're very sorry you left here feeling unimportant to us, when in fact the opposite is true. We're glad you enjoyed the oysters and fries so much, although we're surprised to... More

We went here on our first night fresh off the plane because it was near our hotel. We heard good things but to be honest the food was good without being outstanding. Ok for a quick bite if you like seafood.

Thanks for the feedback! We aim for outstanding, so it's a shame that the food fell flat for you. If you're ever in New York again, we'd love it if you came back and gave us an opportunity to show you what outstanding looks like! Cheers, James, General Manager More

After reading about Grand Central Station and this Restaurant, I just had to check it out. It was like going back in time. They have three different spots to dine and drink.
