We had a friend from NYC recommend this deli. Food was good, service had a little to be desired. The seating is VERY cramped. & like the previous review said NO free refills. The cheesecake is great and the portions are big. We ate lunch, both having corned beef & 2 cokes, with 1 refill each and cheesecake to go.... more

Just got back from NYC. Our first night there, we had a really bad dinner down by the Chelsea Piers, so were still hungry when we got back to the hotel. We wandered around the corner, got take-out dessert from the Carnegie deli and brought it back to our hotel room. It was fantastic. Beyond the giant size of the... more

This place is the best for corned beef and rye. The dining experience is not as good as the food. And they charge for sharing. My advice - order a lb of corned beef, a loaf of rye, a tub of cole slaw, a few greenie pickles, mustard, and take it with you. Find a park or take it with... more

After waiting in line my party of 4 was seated at a very cramped table. Our waiter took too long to greet us. When he finally came our way my friend asked a question about one of the sandwiches and he rudely blew her off and suggested she read the menu as he walked away. I shared (extra $3 to... more

Just got back from NYC. I'd been to the Carnegie Deli before on a couple of trips and it was pretty good...but this time, it was so terrible. Fatty meat, cold meat, really the most disappointing thing we did in NYC - stay clear of it - there are too many great resturants to go to, you don't want to... more

We had been holding off eating New York cheesecake for this special moment! It was a packed lunchtime and we queued outside for five minutes before being seated. The food looked amazing and enormous, especially the pastrami sandwiches, but tempting as they were, we had come for only one thing – cheesecake! Since we were only having the one course... more

We were on an 'Eat your way through Manhatten' kind of adventure mid June, '09, and Carnegie's was the last stop. How we managed to even put a dent into the mountains of food brought to our table I know not- except that it was so genuinely delicious (huge kudos for the peppered pastrami and beef tongue), and we lingered... more

We had three in our party. They had several tables available and chose to sit us at an empty 8 top table. We felt very uncomfortable and asked to be moved to the 4 top table and they refused. We then sat down and looked at the menu, prepared for two of us to share because we had heard the... more

While the food was good and the portions very large, this place is not worth it. Be advised - they accept cash only. There is also a minimum charge per person, so if you want to go there and someone in your party is not very hungry or does not want to pay $24 for a sandwich, they will charge... more

We wanted to experience a NYC deli and this one was close to our hotel, but wish we would have picked another. The food was fine and the pics all over the walls were interesting but definately not worth the price. If you actually go hungry and want a huge sandwich and sides than its probably not a bad deal... more
