my favorite fish spot in the village and NY in general

yes it's busy, but don't let that put you off. I have always been seated within 10 minutes and you can enjoy a glass of wine while you wait. the grilled fish is really good here and they always have interesting and well prepared starters and specials too. its a pity the wine list is a little... read more

Consistently the best lobster roll in town. Love the friendly staff, love the kitschy decor. I've been coming to Mary's for the past 8 years and I've never had an "off" experience which is remarkable in and of itself for NYC. The lobster meat is sweet, the roll heavily buttered (as it should be) and the fries crisp and light... More

Delcious sea bream, branzini, asparagus, blackberry sorbet. Music a bit loud, seating a bit tight, but lively, fun atmosphere and excellent waitstaff. No reservations.

First let's be clear that I am not a New Yorker, nor do I claim to be the most versed at all the wonderful places to eat in NYC. That being said our group (including a New York friend that has lived in the city for 10+ years) loved our selections of food and beer. My 3.5 year daughter actually... More

I had heard from a couple of sources how wonderful Mary's is, so it was the top of my list on my recent visit. I was waiting with baited breath outside the door before 6:00 to ensure I got a seat. Seated at the bar, one looks into the kitchen, which was fun. I ordered the starter special, Beets. They... More

This was a real find. Simple tables and you can't make reservations so expect to wait but it's worth it! We waited 45 minutes but it was a chance to watch the bustle, have a drink and chill before our meal.

The food at Mary's Fish Camp is first rate. Imaginative but not eccentric. The quality of the ingredients is outstanding and everything i have ever tasted there is superb. A shame that the dining experience there is often undone by the horrifically loud room, a combination of hard-edged design and blasting music. It can be very unnerving to eat there,... More

Visiting NYC from Colorado and wanted some fresh seafood but not a big stuffy seafood joint. Mary's seemed to fit the bill and the reviews justified a trip to the Village. First of all Mary's is small, very small. Maybe 22 seats at tables and 8 at the bar. At around 7 on a Tuesday we had a 30 minute... More

This is one of our favorite places to go when in NYC. While the inside is pretty cramped, and the wait is usually long (no resis), the food and casual ambiance definitely make it worth a visit. Must try the lobster roll and fried green tomatoes. I’m from the south (aka capital of fried…well everything), and I have to say... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
