Description: JoJo offers relaxed yet elegant dining on two floors of a quaint...
JoJo offers relaxed yet elegant dining on two floors of a quaint, turn-of-the-century brownstone on the Upper East Side. The first of Jean-Georges’ restaurants in New York City, this neighborhood gem opened in 1991 to rave reviews. It was voted best new restaurant of the year by Esquire magazine and has retained its three-star status from the New York Times for 21 years. Regarding the name, JoJo was Chef Jean-Georges’ nickname as a young boy. Jojo is a hospitable setting for a casual dinner, special occasion, or private party. Guests can feel comfortable in jeans or in evening attire. The contemporary French menu still features some well-loved original dishes, including the Warm Valrhona Chocolate Cake.

We went to a birthday dinner, and I have to say I enjoyed the experienced. It's a classic boutique resteront, little pricy, but worth it.

We went there for a lunch on a recent trip and I have to say we both loved it. Delightful prix fixe menu (the al la carte also looked great). Service was exceptional, presentation and taste of food was fabulous and the chocolate pudding is to die for! Definitely worth a visit

This beautiful little restaurant is one of the best places I have ever been too. I lived in New York for six months and ate here every time a family member would come and visit me from England. I had to introduce everyone to JoJo's. The salmon with the truffle sauce is absolutely delicious and the profiteroles were divine. The... More

There is a time when racing about a bustling, chilly New York you just need to take a deep breath and retreat to a quiet place, for a relaxed dinner with family and friends of old and be reminded when the city was less hectic. JoJo's is that place, tucked away in the near Upper East Side, it is a... More

One of Jean George's original restaurants is extremely adorable. It's set in a brownstone with two floors and very warm interiors. The food, however, left a lot to be desired. The lamb chops were very ordinary and the duck was so so. We definitely were not I impressed nor were we satisfied with this meal. we're glad we gave the... More

JoJo is an old fashioned, very pleasant restaurant to experience a decent meal. The menu is fairly extensive with something to please all. Staff is very attentive... food delicious.

I was up in NYC for an event and joined a few friends from my town for dinner on a Saturday evening. I was put in charge of the arrangements and decided to go with JoJo, a Jean-Georges Vongerichten staple on the Upper East Side. Because of the size of the group, we were limited to a prix-fixe menu, with... More

I and my wife were take here by a friend for lunch. He really knows the place and suggested we dine in the front room upstairs. It was a wonderful choice-- the spot being comfortable, quiet, and with an air of faded elegance. The food was generally excellent through all three courses. The wine was good and very fairly priced.... More

Huge disappointment. Our third visit in the past year and a half and each time it has gotten worse. We went, as usual, for Brunch. We were six adults and we were seated at a table with built in benches... the state of these benches is absolutely terrible, the springs are in urgent need to be replaced. There was only... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
