Description: JoJo offers relaxed yet elegant dining on two floors of a quaint...
JoJo offers relaxed yet elegant dining on two floors of a quaint, turn-of-the-century brownstone on the Upper East Side. The first of Jean-Georges’ restaurants in New York City, this neighborhood gem opened in 1991 to rave reviews. It was voted best new restaurant of the year by Esquire magazine and has retained its three-star status from the New York Times for 21 years. Regarding the name, JoJo was Chef Jean-Georges’ nickname as a young boy. Jojo is a hospitable setting for a casual dinner, special occasion, or private party. Guests can feel comfortable in jeans or in evening attire. The contemporary French menu still features some well-loved original dishes, including the Warm Valrhona Chocolate Cake.

good food, decent service, fair pricing

Located in the heart of Midtown East/UES, JoJo is a "go-to" for me. If you can catch the early-bird menu, it is a good meal at a good price. The past few meals I have had there, we have sat upstairs. I enjoy the upstairs setting much better than downstairs - but this is personal preference. Over... read more

Nice restaurant especially the first floor .... Ask for a table near the window...It is more cozy! The food is nice, especially the salmon. The staff is friendly but the service is average. A little bit pricy.

We ate at 3 Jean Georges Restaurants during our recent visit. This was the best and one of the best restaurants we'd ever been to in NYC. Had the tuna appetizer and the salmon on krispy's and both were terrific. The main course fish offerings, including salmon and seabass were wonderful but I had the duck, and OMG. Probably the... It had been a number of years since our last meal at JoJo. We came with another couple who had never eaten here and had high hopes for sharing a fine dining experience with our friends. The food was very good. The peeky toe crab, charred octopus, black bass, halibut and desserts were all tasty and well prepared. But there... More

Took my partner Scott here for his birthday. Our first impression at walking in was how Parisian it looked, you know, those charming brasseries in the real French neighborhoods. The food was superb. We had the grilled octopus and crispy crab appetizers and both had the poached lobster with lemon risotto. The wine list had several very nice selections and... More

We went to a birthday dinner, and I have to say I enjoyed the experienced. It's a classic boutique resteront, little pricy, but worth it.

We went there for a lunch on a recent trip and I have to say we both loved it. Delightful prix fixe menu (the al la carte also looked great). Service was exceptional, presentation and taste of food was fabulous and the chocolate pudding is to die for! Definitely worth a visit

This beautiful little restaurant is one of the best places I have ever been too. I lived in New York for six months and ate here every time a family member would come and visit me from England. I had to introduce everyone to JoJo's. The salmon with the truffle sauce is absolutely delicious and the profiteroles were divine. The... More

There is a time when racing about a bustling, chilly New York you just need to take a deep breath and retreat to a quiet place, for a relaxed dinner with family and friends of old and be reminded when the city was less hectic. JoJo's is that place, tucked away in the near Upper East Side, it is a... More

One of Jean George's original restaurants is extremely adorable. It's set in a brownstone with two floors and very warm interiors. The food, however, left a lot to be desired. The lamb chops were very ordinary and the duck was so so. We definitely were not I impressed nor were we satisfied with this meal. we're glad we gave the... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
