Description: JoJo offers relaxed yet elegant dining on two floors of a quaint, turn-of-the-century brownstone on the Upper East Side. The first of Jean-Georges’ restaurants in New York City, this neighborhood gem opened in 1991 to rave reviews. It was voted best new restaurant of the year by Esquire magazine and has retained its three-star status from the New York Times for 21 years. Regarding the name, JoJo was Chef Jean-Georges’ nickname as a young boy. Jojo is a hospitable setting for a casual dinner, special occasion, or private party. Guests can feel comfortable in jeans or in evening attire. The contemporary French menu still features some well-loved original dishes, including the Warm Valrhona Chocolate Cake.

I was meeting a friend for dinner and made a reservation for 8:30. On Opentable they claimed to have openings throughout the evening (7:00, 7:30, 8:00, etc...) so it seemed like it would be a good night to go. I had heard good things about the food. We arrived at 8:15 and were told to wait...no problem we were early.... More

A big thank you to JoJo for an amazing thanksgiving lunch - delicious food, wonderful service and lovely atmosphere. The passion pavlova was simply perfection! Would reccomend to anyone to book a table here!

So we could experience both fine dining (not rushed) and get out to plays and operas we decided to do our main dining at lunch time. Jojo was the best experience on our trip. Light and fresh cod with a tomato sauce and basil-mashed potatoes. Terrific pear, apple, endive salad. Apple dessert with cinnamon ice cream. Not too much to eat,... More

Walking by and popped in......tough to pass a French bistro or brasserie when you are hungry! We were early and had the lunch/brunch menu with a glass of champagne. In the light of day it all felt rather tired, especially in the bright daylight upstairs. Nice waiter, but mediocre food really. Maybe dinner is their thing?

I should have known this ancient Jean George spin off would be one big rip off: but thought I'd give it a try for thanksgiving dinner; big mistake: incompetent wait staff, interminable waits between courses, dry turkey, undercooked veggies followed by a desert that if twinkies had been served it would have been an improvement. There a so many better... More

Jean George's first restaurant is still a favorite of ours. Pumpkin soup and then chicken for me, risotto of some kind for Dale. All desserts are yum. Staff is terrific. We prefer to be seated upstairs.

This place has been around for a very long time. Nice menu and excellent French food. It's a little pricey but worth it. We've eaten brunch here twice. Make sure you ask the price of certain Mimosas they serve. It can be a sticker shock !

Cozy brownstone restaurant in residential upper East side neighborhood. Love the ambiance of it! Small bar, excellent décor and attentive staff. We sat upstairs, but both up and down have nice feels. Food was very good and we will be back!

Interesting dishes, skillfully prepared. Upscale but not pretentious. Good wine list with some reasonably priced options. Standouts were the grilled octopus (barely smoky and exceedingly tender, without a hint of fishiness or unpleasant chewiness), striped bass, squash soup special. Other dishes were good but not as memorable (e.g. venison special was two nice pieces of venison without overwhelming gaminess, but... More

Had a great dinner for two recently. Ambience was very nice. Food and service was fabulous. The charred octopus was a very tasty appetizer and perfectly prepared. The beef tenderloin was done perfectly with a wonderful sauce. Would come back any time.
