A NYC Institution

There is a very lively after-work bar scene; or choose to eat in the large, dimly-lit dining room which opens up at the end of the bar. They are know for their burgers, but the other options are really good as well--on a much higher level than standard pub fare. Onion rings are excellent. The... read more

We visited P J Clarke's twice during our very short visit to NY. It may not look like much from the outside but the atmosphere was great, the service was excellent and the food was outstanding. We both chose burgers and they were potentially the best burgers we've ever had! I would highly recommend P J Clarke's for those looking... More

Not my quote but it comes from a NYTimes review. The original Irish Pub, the prototype from which all others have followed. Fabulous bar food and generous drinks in a classic atmosphere. My only complaint is that Clarkes is so popular that I can never get s seat at its historic bar. A must visit when in Manhattan

Excellent tasting hamburger and ribs. Portions are not too large. Service was very good. Men's bathroom has unique, antique urinals.

This is my favourite Bar in the world, and Ive been in a few. Whenever I go to NYC I head for 3rd Ave and hope I can get a seat at the bar. The atmosphere builds and builds if you arrive in the afternoon and hang around you will be enveloped by the place and it becomes part of... More

One New Yorker recommended to me and had right! Great place and ambience, something between american saloon and original english pub. Real juke box music, red and white covered restaurant tables with great delicious food! Fast and polite service. Yamee burgers and chips, excellent beer selection and seducing desserts. Separate bar area with vintage retro men's toilet (a masterpiece, where you... More

Always boisterous, crowded and fun. Food is terrific. Hard to get a seat at the bar so if you are waiting for your table, be prepared to stand and be bounced around a bit. Love the hamburger and when feeling extra hungry, I add a wedge. Seafood is fresh. Sometimes, you will spot a New York celebrity of business.

Read about this place in a guide book and we weren't let down. Stopped for a burger and a beer, I had the bbq and blue cheese, hubby had 3 mini burgers so he could sample a few, and all were delicious. Beer was cold and service was prompt and very friendly. Would definitely go back.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
