Truly excellent meal at chef's table.

We had a group of 14 who dined at Barbuda on Mother's Day for brunch. We were in NYC to celebrate a 60th birthday. We had reserved the chef's table right in the kitchen. It was fabulous! We didn't get the opportunity to see the menu as there was a preset menu which was fine with us. Many of... read more

The best meal of the trip. Chef Waxman was in the house. A friend took me here. I had a lovely margarita, my friend had a blackberry gin concoction that was great. We started with the Calamari salad and straciatella antipasti. They were both amazing...I couldn't figure out which one I loved more. The pan-seared gnocchi was spectacular...way better than... Easy service. My boyfriend and I shared everything we ate, and loved every bite. The potatoes were highly recommended and they were Amazing! Also we had a cauliflower pasta that I would eat again and try to recreate at home. A bottle of wine and outdoor seating, felt like a dream. We also waited for about an hour, so we... More

Jonathan Waxman is a really creative chef. We were incredibly fortunate to get a table at this hot spot on Sunday for brunch. Perfect weather for dining outdoors. Everyone had a great meal.

Food and service were impeccable at reasonable prices and without an ounce of snobbery. Waiter was very knowledgeable about the beer and wine selection. The kale salad is superb, as is the chicken (the kudos are warranted). We also tried two pastas, both of which were fresh and delicious -- great use of local, seasonal ingredients. Cheese plate was also... More

Husband and I got a table outside on a cool pleasant May evening...we got there right before it started to get crowded so we were seated right away. Food was delicious. We shared an insalata di grano which we devoured. I had the chicken and it was moist and seasoned perfectly and I was surprised that it was such a... More

I had a late lunch with a friend at Barbuto recently. It was a lovely Sunday afternoon to sit outside under the umbrellas. We shared the kale Caesar salad and bucatini carbonara. The kale salad was refreshing and well-prepared (although still not quite as good as the version at Il Buco across town). When the bucatini arrived, we were dismayed... More

my friend and i scored a table on the outside edge of the restaurant -dead center on the long wall - so we could touch the sidewalk if we pleased. And it was a spectacular spot on a brilliantly sunny yet not humid May day. so sangria was in order for the lady and vodka soda for me. LOVED the... More

Went with friends, enjoyed the NY atmosphere for brunch on a sunny day. The food offering was not so exciting, had the Üovo Pizza", a pizza which had too much of a green herb (parsley? Cilantro) topped with two sunny side eggs which actually saved the whole dish because they tasted farm-fresh. Staff was efficient and did not rush us... More

How many world famous chef's offer world friendly prices? I can't get over how lucky I feel every time I dine at Barbuto. The food is simple, rustic and cooked to perfection. It's minimalist, flavor focused cooking at it's best. One of my favorite elements is the constantly changing menu which gives my wife and I ample reason to return... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
