A great respite after visiting the Whitney Museum.

After visiting the Whitney Museum, we called a "savy" New Yorker friend and got a recommendation for a "bite to eat" and found Barbuto's. Lucky day! Try the CHICKEN dish! But just about anything else I've eaten there is super! A delightful experience in eating!

we first came out here on a friday night with out reservation, big mistake. it was an over 2 hour wait, so we decided to come back the next day for lunch. my husband and I shared a pickled peach salad, and he had the roasted chicken and i had the grouper. both were very delicious. pretty large portions, so... Plus: Barbuto doesn't take reservations for tables of 2, so if you forgot to make a reservation on a busy night, you won't be any worse off than any other couples. Unfortunately, the rest of our experience was average at best. Probably wouldn't return.

Relaxed venue and lovely on a hot summers day. I'm not really into the whole Kale thing but OMG the Kale salad is a must order along with the roast potatoes, gnocchi and chicken. You won't find these four dishes anywhere else in this form. Go there and soak up the atmosphere and watch the west village pass by...

This is Jonathan Waxman's casual restaurant. We have eaten here several times. I normally opt for the steak, but decided to try the signature roasted chicken. I'm glad I did. I almost never order chicken out because we eat so much of it at home. This may be the best chicken I have ever eaten. The skin is crunchy, the... More

In the summer time they open up the walls of the restaurant that is build into a garage-like hall. Great place for people watching and a great Italian meal! Be prepared to wait a bit. The chicken with kale salad is to die for!

The food at Barbuto is delicious. I personally always go for the kale salad and the seasonal gnocchi or chicken. The drinks are priced a bit too high but other than that it is a great spot.

Relaxed chic cafe with a nice vibe. Friendly efficient staff and tasty food. Had the bruschetta and margharita pizza and both were delicious.

This was my second visit to this restaurant, the first being a memorable experience. The food this visit was just as good, worth the long wait for a reservation. I suggest their signature chicken dish, which can be shared. This gives you the option to enjoy another fantastic dish. The only downside was a less than enthusiastic server. The bar... More

After strolling down the High Line on a hot summer day, sitting in the shade at Barbuto was a great choice for lunch. This cool little restaurant with a very raw interior served great italian food, while sipping on a glass of chilled rose. Can definitely recommend it for lunch, in between shopping and sightseeing.

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
