Delicious food, cool atmosphere

Eager to try the food as one of us was a Jonathan Waxman fan. We ordered family style, appetizers, mains, sides, and desserts were selected for us. Every bite was delicious, from famous chicken to kale salad, potatoes..it was all good. Atmosphere cool, trendy location with big garage window... read more

Roast chicken, potatoes, carbonara, charcuterie, salad, vegetables.....dessert.....wine....all was WONDERFUL. I am usually very hard to impress. I cook well and have difficulty finding restaurants that make a dish better than I can. (I know that sound conceited, but ..... there's a lot of mediocre food being served out there!) This place is definitely one I will visit again!!!!! Not a "fancy"... More

This restaurant in an old garage is loud and lively, with great food. In the winter, sitting near the windowed garage doors can be a bit chilly, but not unbearable. We tried a little of everything and truly liked it all. The kale salad with breadcrumbs and pecorino was lightly dress with a caesar type dressing, light on the anchovy,... More

Great ambiance and imaginative food accompanied by highly competent preparation albeit marred by the toughness of the hanger steak main, also noted by at least one other reviewer of this popular restaurant. Wines priced well up on the high side and waitress gracelessly tried to steer us to a much more expensive bottle. Still our group of 5 had a... More

When I went into the restaurant, located in a former garage, I found that the music playing there was too loud and asked them to turn it down and they did. The waiter recommended the beet salad ($13) and I gave it a try (I have submitted a picture of it). I thought it was quite good, it had some... More

We had a late reservation at Barbuto, I am a fan of Chef Jonathan Waxman so I was very excited to bring my family to the restaurant. We had been eating a lot of the course of our trip so they let me pick out what we were going to share. We had the roasted chicken that he is famous... More

We had a recommendation to visit this establishment and it was all it was cracked up to be. The menu is unique, the presentation outstanding, and the flavors overwhelming. Great job by experienced personnel excellent execution. Can't miss while in the meat packing district.

Barbuto in the West Village is located in an old garage. The roll up doors can be opened in the summer for al fresco dining. Love that idea. We had dinner in early December on a rainy night. Still it was fun. Nice bar. The food was amazing. Had the brussels sprout salad. So tasty and unusual. Then the signature... More

Menu terrible, food salty, wine list sad, service terrible! Not sure where these other people that gave this restaurant over 4 points have eaten before but this restaurant is a 1! Don't waste your time or money

Popped in as we were wondering round Chelsea having failed to get into the spotted pig. Warmly welcomed in without a reservation at 2pm on a Saturday afternoon and seated immediately. Straight away we were offered water and then within minutes our waiter arrived. Friendly and informed he took our drink orders (2 fantastic Bloody Mary's!). We looked over the... More

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
