We went with friends to Casa Mono during a three day stay in NYC. The restaurant is quite small and even though the tables are fairly close somehow it did not feel overly crowded; the noise level was quite manageable. This is a place to go with a group as all plates are small plates (tapas). The six of us... More

Narrowing down what to order here is half the fun; negotiating with your table mates on who is ordering what so there are no dups and you get most of the choices you're interesting in trying. Three tapas per person makes for a filling and satisfying meal. Our table of 3 ordered the following: mussels w/cava & chorizo, rabbit, confit... More

Simple, flavorful tapas. Spanish food and wine. Bar seating perfect for singles. Restaurant is small, so not great for big parties. Food comes up fast and tasty.

My fiance and I love tapas. One of our most memorable dining experiences was a tapas tour in Madrid. While planning a surprise trip to NYC I found Casa Mono and made a note to check it out. We arrived around 9pm on a weekday and were able to get a table in about 30 minutes. This is a tiny... More

We ended up at this restaurant by accident one night - but boy did we luck out! The food is absolutely fantastic, every dish better than the last. Definitely try to sit at the bar so you can watch the chefs work their magic. Wine seems pricey by the glass but they bring you a small carafe which ends up... More

This small, bistro-style Spanish tapas place is such an amazing place. We didn`t have a reservation, but decided to go for a seat at the bar. Luckily two seats were open right by the chefs. We had the sea urchin + eggs, salad, scallops and sweet breads (+++). It was all perfectly cooked and super tasty. Fun to watch the... More

This is one of my favorite places in NYC! Great for lunch during a warm day, when they keep the french doors opened... great location with a cozy dinning room. When alone, they will seat you at the counter (seems rude at first, but if you chose a seat close to the window you will have the opportunity to have... More

We reserved an early table for tapas and wine. The tapas were unique pairings of flavor and textures. The humble papas bravas were utterly comforting and delicious with caramelized onion like strands of melted cheese. The service was accommodating and unpretentious, yet sharp and professional.

Everything about this place is awesome, outstanding, fabulous. This was such a great find while our walking expedition from Union square, Gramercy park. We didn't have a reservation, but were fortunate enough to walk in early in the evening and to our luck got the chef's bar counter and it was pure delight to watch the magic take place right... More
