Top notch fish

The fish was fabulously flaky and had just light batter that made this fried food relatively light. Tartar sauce was better than the normal stuff you get with pub food. The chips were a slight disappointment, being a touch soggy, but with salt and the malt vinegar supplied on the counter they... read more

This is the best fish and chips you will find stateside! They also do an interesting range of deep fried chocolate, a favorite with our Scottish neighbours.

Had cod, haddock and whiting. Prices are reasonable given the serving size. Only Canola oil is used. The batter is thin and not greasy at all. The English gentleman is friendly. Was there on a cold winter night. Wish they sell hot drinks

Do you like to eat a traditional meal of fish and chips from the UK? Well, if you are any where near this restaurant, you should check it out. A word of caution, there is hardly any room to sit down and eat. There are about eight stools at a perimeter bar and one standing only table for about three... More

After hearing this place hyped for quite some time we decided to try it on this trip into the city. I wasn't surprised by the small space, it is par for the course in many NYC niche eateries. However I wasn't expecting worn, tattered, ripped vinyl bar stool seating, and an unkept counter to eat on. We decided to try... More

As Brits living in the USA, we miss fish & chips so much. We have been on a quest for a "proper" chippy, and the quest finally ended in Greenwich Village. Yes, this is a tiny place and the food is pricy, but totally worth the trip. Lovely Irish guy behind the counter who was very friendly and had time... More

I really had high hopes for this, but it was a little disappointing. The food was just okay, the service was quick and good. There is hardly any seating, so we took ours to go.

I love specialty restaurants, and this is a true gem. Fish and chips are phenomenal, and their weekday special is pretty great! Fish and Chips and a Drink for $10!

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
