Did what it needed to do!

Having had avery busy day of walking, on our way home we decided to do take out and eat it in our b&b. it did not disappoint. Great fresh fish cooked to order and great onion rings - these did need a bit more seasoning but were excellent. Lots of yummy tartare sauce. A great option.

Would not go here, another failed example of someone trying to pull off British food in the States. Poorly executed, the main issue is the service staff are just not interested. The food was average and does not represent British fish and chips.

the most difficult food to find in the states, forget the irish pubs though some are pretty ok this place is the real deal.do not confuse this with a restaurant this is what we call a "chippy" malt vinegar, battered sausages, fresh pollock which is similar to cod and thick chips, they also serve boddingtons ale and my son's favorite tizer.order at the... We're 2 expats living in Manhattan and we come here often. They have lots of fish selections, all the traditional drinks and side options. Service is ok, but it is cooked fresh so takes time. The servers are always really friendly. Limited seating inside and a bench outside so bear this in mind, chips aren't the best when they've been... More

Fish & Chips are delicious! A bit pricey, for a quick lunch. Spent over $70, for myself, my husband, & our 2 teenagers. We were lucky to get there before a rush, considering there are literally 8 barstools & 2 small counters, for seating....THAT'S IT! The deep fried Mars bar is A MUST!

We stopped in to find a hole in the wall, 6 seater, total dive. It was soooo yummy. I have NEVER had fish and chips like that before. If you are down near the Battery Park - go grab a seat. It was piping hot and so flaky. The tartar sauce was like nothing else! We are still talking about... More

Husband had to try their fish & chips. He ordered haddock and I got the sole. We both felt that they fish didn't taste fresh. And it was terribly underseasoned. I wouldn't go back.

As one of 4 Brits in a group of 20 plus New Yorkers, it was great to experience this little treat in the West Village. I could have been in London or any other traditional British takeaway. With a mix of English and Scottish favourites, mushy peas, pickled onions, deep fried Mars Bar, Irn Bru, the food and service was... More

Firstly - What a great name for a Fish and Chip shop. Secondly - what a surprise this was to stumble across on a Saturday afternoon. We were on our way back from lunch when we found ourselves chatting to two guys sitting on the bench outside A Salt and Battery. It turned out they were both from Manchester and... More

Visiting from Australia, it was great to enjoy the best fish and chips in the city. Fish was fresh, batter crunchy, chips cooked to perfection.

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
