Gigantic sandwiches. No frills. No queues.

I first visited Artie's in October 2013, as I wanted to try a pastrami sandwich without having to queue for it in one of the better known delis, and this place had received favourable mentions on one of my oft-frequented food sites. It was a little on the empty side, sure, but I wasn't there for... read more

Went to this place for breakfast looking for a casual diner experience, but badly disappointed. First of all, there's a difference between casual and schlocky, and Artie's is definitely the latter, with its hodgepodge of random food posters and giant jars full of old vegetables floating in water (why?). The décor could be overlooked, but the overpriced, tasteless food definitely... More

This is a neat place with good service. I ordered a cheese omlette for dinner with ice tea which was $15 before tip. It was OK but nothing special or particularly tasty. It has a neat vibe so I can understand the good reviews. Certainly worth a try!

My first visit to Artie's was around 2004 and it was such a memorable experience of an authentic NY Deli. It was a bustling place no matter what time of the day it was -- the tables near us were filled with local jewish customers that seemed at home dining on kreplach and Artie's famed pastrami and corned beef sandwiches.... It was 1:30 in the afternoon and I wanted to have something not filling so that I could have a good appetite for dinner. I ordered the mushroom barley soup ($5.95) and it was delicious. The appearance (see photo) of it was so good, the person eating at the next table said he was going to order that the next... More

The location is convenient; right on Broadway where metered parking is fairly easy to find. Or, the buses and trains are also nearby. Sandwiches are pricey but, they are of good quality and ample size; and, in NY, you're going to pay top dollar for deli but it is usually worth it. Our server was attentive and friendly which is... Nothing special aside from the prices. I suspect a victim of its own fame being mentioned in LP as iconic Beer was good and cold. Looks like a review has to have a min of 100 letters. But their really is nothing more positive or negative to say.

Bad News - As of last week, Artie's was sporting a "B" Cleanliness rating from the NYC health inspectors. This is totally unacceptable. What's more, the said their credit card machine was down, so everything that day had ti be cash. If you go there now, ask about that. If it is still cash only, that's the sign of a... More

Went with my family on our last day of holiday and it was amazing! Just what we were wanting, good portions and good NYC atmosphere.
