Had a Cold

Hi, it's me again, the almost 10-year-old. This morning I woke up with a cold and sore throat. I was laying in bed and I got hungry. My mom and sister went out shopping while my dad I decided to get some deli at Artie's. I ordered a bowl of Matzoh Ball Soup and a bunch of pickles. Of course... read more

I had insanely high hopes, I LOVE trying new places especially DELIS! We were SO let down. We typically order Pastrami on Rye, Salami on rye, an assortment of desserts, egg creams, sometimes Matzah ball soup. Typical fare. So here we go... Arties looked promising when we got there as far as outside appearance. As soon as we entered we... More

Look this ain't the Carnegie Deli, but better than Katz's in my view. Plus, it's not a Zoo (like the Carnegie), the staff is friendlier, it's conveniently located on the West Side......and the food is awesome! We shared a bowl of Mushroom Barley soup, and a Turkey sandwich (cut from the bird)....and we could barely finish it. Free pickles and... More

We have been here twice and both times the staff were very friendly and the meals arrived quickly. The only reason I have not given a 5 is that for me the menu choices are not as exciting or varied as in other restaurants. As a non beef eater I found I struggled to find something I would eat but... More

Great corned beef and pastrami, crunchy pickles and perfect egg creams. Try the chicken in a pot for good soup, giant matzo balls and excellent broth.

I liked that the table received complimentary coleslaw and pickles while waiting for order. Cole slaw was very tasty. Two in my party had the Italian wrap and one didn't like it at all. The rest o the party was satisfied with their sandwiches.

Went to this place for breakfast looking for a casual diner experience, but badly disappointed. First of all, there's a difference between casual and schlocky, and Artie's is definitely the latter, with its hodgepodge of random food posters and giant jars full of old vegetables floating in water (why?). The décor could be overlooked, but the overpriced, tasteless food definitely... More

I first visited Artie's in October 2013, as I wanted to try a pastrami sandwich without having to queue for it in one of the better known delis, and this place had received favourable mentions on one of my oft-frequented food sites. It was a little on the empty side, sure, but I wasn't there for the ambience, and the... More

This is a neat place with good service. I ordered a cheese omlette for dinner with ice tea which was $15 before tip. It was OK but nothing special or particularly tasty. It has a neat vibe so I can understand the good reviews. Certainly worth a try!

My first visit to Artie's was around 2004 and it was such a memorable experience of an authentic NY Deli. It was a bustling place no matter what time of the day it was -- the tables near us were filled with local jewish customers that seemed at home dining on kreplach and Artie's famed pastrami and corned beef sandwiches....
